Issues with M4RN

Hello hello!

 

There has been a lot of discussion with Rentboy and their known system unreliability. In an effort to maintain fair and balanced conversation about sites that we all use to seek escorts and advertise on, I would like to get input from both clients and escorts on issues with M4RN. I know there are more than just the two dogs on the block (Rentboy and M4RN) but these two seem to , IMHO cater to the majority of clients and escorts. Hopefully, if compare notes and exchange some ideas, we can help one another out or at least compile issues.

 

Again, I would like to hear from both clients and escorts as our experiences are different and our needs for these sites vary.

Since you asked:

 

Ad issues:

Expand the text field beyond 500 characters

Allow links to individual escort sites

Make coherent edits (or none at all) and check with the escort before publishing

Apply rules evenly for all the advertisers (Often I'm told I can't use a phrase which the ad right below mine uses)

 

Email issues:

Allow the client to write us a useful email, not limited to 30 characters

Allow us to reply to the client emails without having to copy & paste their email address

Allow escorts to give their direct email address in the ad

 

Client perspective:

Stop listing ads for escort who cannot be contacted

Only list ads for guys who are actually in that city

Do away with the fake review system (where all escorts are not only above average, but excellent)

Allow us to search ads by text

 

Billing and account issues:

Stop billing through a third party (which is very confusing)

Allow you to use the same profile name when you recreate your ad (I'm now KSlater, KevinSlater and LaterSlater being held on ice indefinitely on that site)

Apply common sense to their billing: a recurring monthly ad is $100, but a one-time 60 day ad is $180. However, if you try to renew your ad before it expires, they steal days from your account

Allow you to reduce your membership level (Currently, you have to let your ad expire then start a new one to drop a level)

Have a number to call and actually talk to someone to resolve issues, if not an actual physical presence

Communicate with me in American English, not India call center platitudes ("Dear Sir: We are very sorry you are unhappy that we overbilled you...")

 

Lastly:

Stop the pop-up ads

I noted this in another thread; I would like to see this site allow for more text in the ads, especially for those who advertise on the site and choose to pay for the upper membership tiers.

M4RN will only be around as long as we (escorts) give them money. I'd love to see the site shut down. And I say ditto to what Kevin said. RentMen and RentBoy are way better sites with RentMen being the better imo.

LOL, you pretty much said everything I cant stand about that site too. And emails? I think I'll come to the conclusion to not answer them any longer and risk missing a client or 2 because seems like every email I get they dont respond. I just think putting our email address on our ad would be bad due to the spammers on there. I recently lost an email address due to being overwhelmed with coks, cumm, and pusies

Yeah thats true...the thing is, it is popular because it shows up first on google when you type, 'male escorts'.

A couple of times I've "e-mailed" an escort through M4RN and the response came from a bizarre e-mail address that was trapped by my spam filter. If memory serves, the e-mail address was not the escort's address. As a client, I hate the pop-ups, the expired ads that never go away, and the fact that I can't write an actual e-mail. It has to be maddening for you to receive a client's e-mail address, city, and nothing else.

 

I agree that Rentmen is a better site.

I stopped going to that site altogether as there was something on that site in particular that would cause my internet to repeatedly shut down. It was literally after months of this happening that I figured out that it wasn't my computer per se, but their site.

 

Plus the ads with no contact info. I was also tired of seeing TJ's (from LA) ass being the very first ad ALL THE TIME whether or not he was in my city. Never met the guy, but I found his ad very annoying.

I don't hire people from m4rn because I think the owner and staffs do not treat gay people appropriately. Why can escorts build a site for themselves or better Daddy can built a commercial site and charge a small maintenance fee to escorts?

They really don't. They just care about their recurring fees. If they did, they'd allow clients to write emails and not trick people with expired ads.

 

It has to be maddening for you to receive a client's e-mail address, city, and nothing else.

And not only that, just the fact we cant really tell who the person is on the other end. For example, on rentboy I can usually tell which emails are worth responding to and which ones arent. Genuine responses usually speak of something relevant or intellectual. Non serious replies consist of 1 or 2 word comments which say nothing about meeting. With men4rent one has no idea.

 

I say lets all close our accounts with men4rent until they start listening to us. I mean seriously, how long are we going to keep letting them get away with their poor customer service? Not to mention it being the most expensive site out there.

To the good, I have never, never had an issue with men4rent logging in. Their server seems always be running.

I like that my favs are along the side.

I like that you can see all the pics and and click on pictures for a closer look.

You can see multiple destinations for an escort for those that do travel.

My area has 15 active ads on men4rent and 0, none, zero for rentboy and at least 30% more active ads for the next closest large city than rentboy. Rentman has virtually no existence in the midwest.

Rentboy is getting hard to see the escort ads with all the other ads.

I love the video intros on rentman and have contacted a couple of guys specifically because of that.

Rentboy should take some of their money and put it into customer service and their servers. It is the slowest site to page through.

To my knowledge there is a signifcant price difference between the sites??

I have actually seen a reduction in ads on rentman, do they actually get the traffic there as they use to?

 

Just my thoughts as a client.

 

Oh and as to Daddy running an ad site, I dont thing that works well. I prefer a somewhat independent site for reviews from paying escort ads.

RB in comparison to all the other escort advertising sites does have a significant difference in price. Sadly, RB's model is to price memberships differently based on popularity of population of cities. What an ad costs in me Dallas is far different than what it costs me in NYC, Miami, San Francisco and other major cities which I find to be disappointing. For the amount of money that RB charges on their membership and the large differences in prices between cities, RB should certainly invest in upgrading their servers because their site is the slowest and continually is down several times a week with slow response rates - all of which is well documented on this MB quite well and has been documented for far longer than I have been on this site.

 

Rentmen does have very little coverage in most cities especially the midwest.

Good input, Rian though I disagree with your statement that M4RN is the most expensive site - that would be Rentboy.

 

If M4RN was to be taken offline, that would severely limit competition and give one site, Rentboy superior control of escort advertising and pricing. Rentmen is currently not capable of providing the traffic since it's not very well known and has large gaps in coverage.

It might seem that RM is lacking in coverage and in some ways it probably is but I receive their news letter and they recently cleaned house and removed profiles that were not paid up. From the sounds of the news letter I think this will be a regular thing so one can be certain that the escort they are trying to contact will be contacted.

well it depends what city you are in. For example, rentboy in Dallas, Boston, and other similar sized cities is $30 for a month of basic listing, which is good enough as there isnt that many guys advertising here. Men4rent is $30 for platinum for a measly 10 days. Then $90 after that, which turns out to only be about 20 more days

 

Whereas in Miami, L.A. or New York rentboy starts at like $59 I think? I just say because with rentboy one can choose how much time they want, but I guess when traveling with rentboy it adds up.
