O.K. I know this isn't a restaurant review place but the people here are so knowledgeable, just thought I'd ask.

I'm heading out for dinner tomorrow with someone very nice (possible boyfriend material). I honestly don't eat out very often. I've been searching sites for suggestions but there are a lot of restaurants out there. He is from Queens, NY and I'm from Manhattan, NY.

Probably will meet somewhere around Times Square (42nd street). Looking for moderately priced, romantic place to eat that is "gay friendly" so we can be openly affectionate if the need should arise.

Would appreciate any suggestions or links.

P.S. This is 2nd date and surprisingly, being the slut that I am :p , I haven't given it up yet!

O.K. You got me. . we got into a little mutual oral on the first date (he came but I didn't) (I can't change overnight ;) )

Blue Fin (mainly fish) is good. It just opened in the W Hotel in Times Square. It's gay friendly, but unless you're upstairs, maybe too noisy. Orso's (Italian) in a good standby over on restaurant row and fairly romantic. Chez Josephine is romantic and gay friendly (it's owned by Josephine Baker's fag son) over on 42nd between 8th and 9th. Jezebels is also romantic (soul food), but I don't know how gay friendly over on ninth in the 40s.

Hope this helps.

Later.

There is a great wine bar called Bateau Ivre and next to it a restaurant called Montparnasse. They are both stylish, fun and international and moderately priced. They are on East 51st. near Third Ave.in Manhattan. Thry them, I think you'll enjoy

This recommendation doesn't exactly meet your requirements but I thought it was worth mentioning. Gotham Bar & Grill, 12 E. 12th Street, between 5th and Broadway is one of NY's best restaurants and serves a $20 prix fixe lunch. The food is great and the space is very dramatic. Reservations are probably a good idea. Phone number is 212-620-4020. I've taken European friends who are real food snobs there and they've always been impressed. Lunch is not always convenient but if you took the day off you could have the rest of the day to play. Love in the afternoon has always had a big appeal for me.

If your feeling flush, Union Square Cafe is one of my all time favorites. 21 E.18th Street. Definitely need reservations. 212-243-4020.

If you want gay places HX and Next are filled with suggestions

Gotham Bar & Grill has been my all around favorite restaurant in the City for over a decade. Union Square is also great. Excellent choices. They're both romantic, and may be "gay" friendly; they're just not anywhere near Times Square or moderately priced, but what the fuck.
