Zany American Idol judge Paula Abdul has decided not to return to the show, FOX News is reporting. While I personally got sick of her and her antics with Simon Cowell, I have to concede that the show might be more boring without her. Here's the scoop:

 

Fox says "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul has decided to quit the hit talent show.

 

In a posting on her Twitter account Tuesday evening, Abdul wrote that "with sadness in my heart," she's decided not to return to the show.

 

In a statement, Fox called Abdul an important part of "American Idol" over its eight seasons and said it was saddened by her decision to leave the show.

 

Fox announced Monday that new judge Kara DioGuardi would return for a second season with "American Idol."

I can't help but wonder is kara was hired last season for precisely this reason.

I find it very hard to believe that it was Paula's decision. Her manager said about a week ago that she had not been contacted by the producers yet and the first auditions were to start Aug.6. Sounds like they just didn't want her.

 

Or maybe they couldn't afford her after the contracts they had signed with the rest of the crew. Simon signed at 50 million for one year and Ryan signed a 3 yr contract for 45 million (15 per yr).

 

Or so it has been reported in the trades.
