Cell phone wise it is going to be a beautiful day! The fancy new Palm Pre will be released into the wild for the masses to use. I can't wait! That Apple phhone thingy is a toy for kids. The new Palm Pre is an actual intergradeable tool one can use and will be easy to use.

Best things at least for me about this phone: replaceable battery, not getting bumped off when doing an email when a call comes in, a notifier comes up to let you know and you have the choice of taking the call or ignoring it, it's not on At&t's crap service plan, no more looking for wireless signal it's in your hand you can use it as a modem for your laptop, integrates your Facebook contacts, emails, phone numbers and instant messenger contacts, you can still use your old Treo apps and you can listen to Pandora radio.

it'll be interesting to see how it pans out compare to the iphone...so much hype is given to new smartphones as the new iphone killer but then they disappear into obscurity i.e. android. based on the specs though looks like palm took the basic idea from the iphone very similar except that they added a slider keyboard.

i'm more excited about the os 3 update for the iphone coming out this summer.

Major downside - Sprint

 

I would love to get a Palm pre. I've have a Palm phone now and really like it. I've thought about updgrading but haven't done anything about that. The major downside is the Palm pre is only available through Sprint. I went through Sprint hell once - never again. Hopefully the market will open to other carriers after the first of the year. (I read somewhere Sprint's exclusive contract runs until Dec 31.)
