The flight and the hotel reservations have been made. Escorts and saunas have been given much thought as to prospects. Now there is one major thing that is missing: the "Things to Do" and/or the "Must Sees and Dos" as well as recommended restaurants!"

Yes, there is much information at the various travel forums, and yes, there are books to read (which have yet to be purchased); but I would really prefer hearing from the men who visit and write at this site and forum.

Please take your time, fellows, but I'd truly appreciate your availing yourselves with a deluge of information for me. (I'll be there for a mere four days.)

The thing to do would be to rebook your tickets for July and head to Valencia and go to the Las Falls festival and see the gigantic floats and watch them torch them to the ground at the end of the evening! It;s FANTASTIC!!!!

Guide to Barcelona

The best guide book by far is the "Eyewitness Guide to Barcelona." It doesn't matter which edition you get, and amazon has them used for as little as $ .01. Take it along and tear out pages as you need them, write notes in the margins to keep for yourself, and you can toss the rest away. There are great photos, floor plans of churches, castles, and museums, suggestions for eating, history, the best. Read ahead of time and then carry the parts you want with you.

Thanks, Karl for your recommendation. I shall definitely purchase one of these guides. ...have for other countries: Argentina and Brazil and another which has escaped "thee" mind!

Barcelona Lounger

We have the Traveling Hoovilleans forum and the European Forum, yet I would agree with Axiom that his thread would get more tread if posted in the Lounge. That's not a good commentary on the viability of those fora!

Gaudi

Axiom, If you were planning a longer stay in Barcelona I would recommend BARCELONA AND MODERNITY: PICASSO GAUDI MIRO DALI by William H. Robinson et. al. It's an art book as well as a history of the city up to the end of the Spanish Civil War. If you have a good university library near by, try there. Amazon.com also has used copies.

The sections on Gaudi were exceptionally informative. If you pick Gaudi, you can spend a day outdoor traveling around Barcelona to see his glorious buildings.
