Several years ago when chat rooms were becoming all the rage in Europe, people were organizing parties to get together to meet the people with whom they conversed on a regular basis online. I went to one such party (in a bar that was closed off from the public and reserved just for them) and it was a blast. People came to Moscow from as far away as Vladivostok for the event. Have the good folks (both escorts and non-escorts) ever done that from this board?

 

I think it would both interesting and a lot of fun to meet one another once in person. I know we all live in many places across the country, but with enough advance notice and with airfares being as low as they are these days, it might not be so far-fetched to get together in NYC, or L.A., or Denver, or where ever for a night. We would all wear name tags to identify ourselves (and maintain some anonymity). Escorts wouldn't need to wear name tags, they could just strip once they arrived at the club or restaurant - they'd be pretty recognizable even without the benefit of face pics ;-) They could probably drum up quite a bit of business that evening, no doubt.

This gets suggested every once in a while. And it's not a new concept. In the 70's, there were CB clubs in many communities that brought together people who met on the CB Radio.

 

This sort of meeting would probably be most successful if planned around an event that will *already* have a high number of rentboys present. The annual GayVN awards in LA, Grabby Awards in Chicago, CES in Vegas, Black Party in NYC, White Party in Palm Springs, etc.

 

rentboy.com often attends these events and throws a party. (The one I was at in Vegas was a lot of fun.)

 

Next weekend is the Bad Boys Pool Party in Palm Springs. Franco DiSantis has said he'll be there, and I will too. Anyone else?

 

The Grabby awards in Chicago are coming up Memorial Day weekend and we'll have a small HooBoy posse in attendance. Anyone else?

How do you identify other "HooBoy" members in the crowd, unless you know them already, or they're escorts, and thus more or less recognizable anyway?

Actually, the best way is to plan a little pre-event event where everyone meets and introduces themselves. Then you can all head over to the "main event" as a herd.

Anybody going to the Gay Day at Disney World in Orlando the first weekend in June? I have heard some rumors that a few of our favorite lads will be there, and some people make it their big vacation for the summer.

 

If there is enough interest maybe we can have a party before of after the big event.
