Last week I saw the musical "Mary Poppins" which kicks off its national tour in Chicago. For all the musical fans out there: if you find yourself in the Windy City before July 14th don't miss it. In the cast are the original Broadway stars: Ashley Brown (as Mary Poppins) and Gavin Lee (as Bert).

Saw both Ashley and Gavin (along with the original B'way cast) in Mary Poppins on Broadway back in November 2007. It was an amazing show - much different in some respects than the Disney classic. The musical stayed truer to the book version. However there were some of the classic Disney songs and dialogue in the B'way production.

I agree - a must see. TWO THUMBS UP! :)

I saw the Chicago production last month and was mightily impressed with the quality of the actors, their singing, and the physicality they brought to such a demanding performance. Great staging, voices, and an incredible bit of fun. Bert's chimney sweep number really steals the show.
