I thought about posting this in the Deli section--and then I thought maybe this was the better place.

 

1 Has anyone ever received an logical answer from M4RN for why they keep inactive ads--some that have been inactive for years on their site.

 

2. Why do some escorts when they quit--their ads disappear from M4RN but others their ads have stayed on the website for years?

It's been discussed in other threads on here. I think if an escort simply stops paying, the ad stays up with no contact info. His phone numbers are taken off the ad, but the site will still accept emails but not forward them. Instead, it forwards a generic email telling the escort that there are messages waiting for him should he re-establish his account. It's an attempt to extort further payments from the escort. It also makes it look like the site has more guys in every city, which the programmers must think makes the site look better, ignoring that a few active ads are better than several inactive ones. I do think the escort has the option of deleting his account, which explains why others disappear rather than lingering in an inactive state.

 

The short answer to most questions about M4RN is "because the site sucks".

After you stop paying them

 

You have to log back in and delete the account in order to stop getting e-mails. I beleive this also removes your ad from their site.

I had to stop using them, because they were sending many e-mails every day telling me that a client was looking right now for a guy who was not my age or race and was willing to pay an amount that was not my rate in a city that I was going to visit a month from now.

delete your own info

 

I have had M4RN ads in the past and have always had to delete my own information. Actually, I always check before running an ad to see how or if I have control over my own content and images and what procedure is necessary to delete content should I choose to leave the website. I agree with the others here..the outdated info looks messy and unprofessional.

 

I've been on a personal break and am back in business. I never participated here in the M4M forum in the past...so I hope my first post, signature, etc. all work...and apologies ahead of time if they don't.

The fact that men4rent has all those empty profiles even bothers me LOL. I wish there was better directories to list on in this town.

 

In fact, I was curious the other day and put myself in client position and viewed the platinum club memeber and featured members when you first sign onto the site...nearly everyone were old profiles with no number, there were more zombie profiles than good ones! That just makes me feel concerned as a paying advertiser to list on a site that does that, and they really dont seem to give a shit. I also get ticked off when they edit words in my profile without telling me, only to find out later theyu took something out to the point where it doesnt even make sense nor describe what I do.

 

Rentboy doesnt do that, and I can guess it makes finding someone that much easier. Of course Im not trying to 'find' anyone, but I like to know how easy it is for a client to find me without getting exhausted looking at expired ads before finally getting to mine. Good thing they usually shift all the old ads to the back!

I was wondering about that too. I think that after an Escort retires. He also stops paying or his ad. Then they bump him down to a "basic" spot. I would think that most of the Premium or Platinum ads are being paid for and so sort of get teh impression that those guys are still working.

So, let's days guys retire and stop paying and their ads move down to basic... The ad is free at that point but still up. I think it;s just that retired guys retire and don't bother to pull all of their ads down. On the other hand, How does a business that runs ads determine who is retired and who is not when basic ads are free? Lots of ads up there on the site.

It's still a good site though. It's not costing me $10,000 per year to advertise! ...and there are a lot of paying Escort ads up there. So, you can still choose from those. If they are premium/Platinum the Escort is more likely still working if he is paying for the ad. If not his ad will default to basic statis.

One of the reasons I am on M4rN is because it;s relatively affordable. rentmen too... One of the reasons I am not on Rentboy is because it would cost me over $1,000 a month for a premium spot to advertise each month for all the cities I typically travel to. You pay full fare for each city for one full month regardless that you might only be in a city for one week. NYC, FLA, SF, LA are all expenseive cities. On the other hand... they suspend your ad if you stop paying. So, maybe less dead links there.

Oh ya... glad you reminded me. That crazy thing about "right now for $5/hr. thing is super irritating. On the other hand, I just filter all those to my spam and delete them.

Then again, I do find I have control over my content on the M4rN site. On rentboy, I found that I could not edit anything. It was a disturbing number of emails and three weeks, (AFTER I had reactivated my ad there at the premium rate in three cities), trying to get some help to be able to access my account there and edit the pix and outdated rates on there so I could actually post the ad. In the end, it never happened and their restitution for that was to give me a one month free basic spot in my own city for a month I was not even going to be there. STUPIIIIIIIIID! Why would I do that? I'll never go back there again~
