Montreal: Taboo

Recommended Posts

Taboo

1950 de Maisonneuve Est

514-597-0010

Open daily 7pm - 3am

Cover charge: none

Lap dance: $6 CND per song

Drinks: reasonable, $3 - $7 CND per drink

Dancers: Younger guys (18-24, though there are a few older ones who look very young), mostly twinks. Also jocks, frat types, preps, and punks of multiple ethnicities. Many are gay; all are gay-friendly. Most speak English. About half do privates (full service), but none are offended if you ask. There are anywhere from 12 (early in the week) to 24 (weekends) dancers per night.

The Stage: The dancers are grouped in sets of 3. Each dancer will come on the stage and do one dance with their clothes on. After all 3 dancers have done their song, they each come out individually again, naked and hard, for their second song. After all 3 have done their second song, the next set of 3 comes on. Most Montreal "regulars" do not tip the boys when they are on the stage, but many visiting Americans do. Holding up a fiver or putting it on the stage will get the boy over to you.

The back room: You can buy individual lap dances with the boys in the back room. The room is not ideal, as it is a wide open community room that is fairly well lit. But the boys you can bring back there ARE ideal! As the songs are playing on the stage, you can keep a boy back there for $6 CND per song. They will get completely naked and dance/cuddle/kiss with you... and possibly more depending on how closely the room is being monitored by the room monitor, how long you keep them back there, how well they know you, and which boy it is. If you tip them, you will get great service on your next one... and word spreads quickly around the dancers as to who the generous clients are.

Individual reviews: Elsewhere in this forum, many people have contributed their input about their favorite dancers. What I love most about Taboo is that there is always a great mix of "old-timers" whom I recognize and have come to know and some fresh hot looking newbies. I find at least one new "favorite" every trip. They are friendly and amiable, and many will even join you after closing at the local 24 hour diner for dinner and company... all for the price of a sandwich (which in Canada is pretty damned cheap).

Summary: This is the best place in the Western Hemisphere for twink lovers. The selection of boys is stunning, and the place is friendly, upbeat, and affordable. Some warnings: It does get very crowded on weekends and during special events. The back room takes some getting used to due to its public nature, so don't get weirded out on the first crack and give up. And finally, it is very habit forming. I can't keep myself away from the place now! So know what you are getting yourself into!

RE: Montreal: Taboo -- Addendum

A few additional comments on Taboo to add to marc anthony's excellent description above.

location: corner of Maisonneuve and rue Dorion

website: Taboo does not appear to have a website.

There are no Ladies' nights.

Refreshments: Full bar, no food. Many drinks are $1.00 off before 9PM.

The club opens at 7PM but the dancing usually starts at 8PM, sometimes a little earlier, and goes until about 2:30AM. The club stays open until 3:00AM and the music continues without dancers on stage so that you can get those last few lap dances in with your favorite dancer in the back room.

Since the dancers don't start until about 8PM, there is only one shift of dancers, unlike the clubs which open in the afternoon.

While there are exceptions in both directions, the dancers at Taboo, generally speaking, give the most artistic performances, often using costumes and creating choreography that goes with the music and giving an actual dance performance. That is much less likely to be observed at the other clubs, where the dancers tend mostly just to parade around the stage displaying their attributes.

Taboo as of this writing has the "non-contact" dance ($6) license. See the discussion of "contact" and "non-contact" dances in the thread "Montreal: About Strip Clubs" in this FAQ.

Accessibility: Taboo is on the ground floor and is generally accessible. There is one low step at the entrance, but then the stage, main seating area, bar, backroom area, pool table and restrooms are all on the same level. The side seating areas on both sides require going up one or more steps, and the ATM and video games are located in one of those raised areas.

Other Facilities: Taboo has an ATM (a private one, not from a bank), a pool table, and video games/poker on premises.
