Guys, It's time to put down those newspapers, close those Gaiety photo albums, and start moving on. There are a lot of fun things going on in the NY metro area that are still opened, so let's start talking about them and sharing.

Last night, board member rapaz and I went on the prowl. Our journeys took us to a relatively new bar on Long Island called the Rainbow Lounge http://www.rainbowloungeli.com

It's located at 247 Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park and Friday night is when to go.

The owner's name is Johnny and he's very friendly and good to his customers. He greeted me at the door where I paid a $7.00 cover. I also received a coupon for a discount on my next visit.

The establishment is new looking and very clean. It's large with a big rectangular bar in the center. The hot looking bartender named Chris reminded me of Jason Adonis in looks and build. Very friendly and makes a great apple martini.

As you look around, you'll see stools by the bar and comfortable looking leather love seats around the outside. Towards the right is a small stage and in front of that a dance floor. Further off to the right is a large pool room. The rest rooms are on the left in the back and are all modern, clean, and roomy.

On Friday nights, the entertainment is the Beef-Boyzz. A male go-go dance group that performs on Long Island. There were three dancers, but Chris, one of the dancers, was working the bar while the others were dancing and circulating. The stage show gets going around 10:30pm and the dancers names are Eric and Greg. Both are vgl and have lean muscular builds. Eric is Latino with dark hair and eyes, and Greg is Irish, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Both dancers, during the stage show, will strip down to their nicely packed thongs and tips are appreciated. There is a live dj and dancing. As part of the show, whipped cream is squirted on the dancers bodies and can be licked off or just rubbed in. The dancers perform solo and together. Both are very friendly and willing to please.

As for those in attendance. It gets a mixed age group of men. A few women were there with "dates".

I arrived around 9:30pm (I'm not sure when the bar opens) and the place closes at 4am. Smoking is permitted.

Both rapaz and I had a great time and looking forward to returning. Their phone # is 516-354-9860

thanks Coop for the information. Sounds like a fun place to go. I also enjoy a good apple martini, especially with a squeeze from a "buff boyzz".

Yes, Cooper and I had a very nice time last night. I checked out the website using the link and there is an extensive photo gallery including pictures of Chris the bartender and Eric, the other dancer, in G- strings. There were no photos of Greg. I had a little bit of trouble with the website and bringing the photo gallery up but a few moments of playing around with it brought the pics into view.

Yes, they are the Buffboyzz and have a webpage on AOL as well. I would put Chris (uses the name C.J. when he dances) in the body builder category because he is very well muscled. The other two guys are very attractive with athletic builds. They are both real cuties with boyish faces and the charm to go with it.

I will be returning again and hope to meet again with Cooper there. Next time I will be sure not to leave without having a lap dance.

hey Cooper and Rapaz--don't know if I'll make it to Long Island, but thanks for the review. I'll continue to follow your "prowls and journeys".

I used to travel to L.I. for a club called Adam Woods, had lots of fun there. Met the much talked about dancer James from L.I. but since the club closed, I lost contact.

I don't think I'll find the same action at Rainbow Lounge, but I'll give it a shot. That bartender sounds interesting.

I also would like to hear where other former Gaiety patrons are now going. Good post Coop.

"Cooper, I'm glad to hear that you haven't given up on NYC and moved to Montreal!"

CEO: You know me, I'll never give up on NYC. As Fr. Gianni told me at Mass today, when one door closes another one opens... Foxy and I are more motivated now than ever to find out where those G-dancers have gone.

As for Montreal, we're waiting for you to join us. Beefeater is putting a lot of pressure on me to join him this week. :-) Coop

I too have a lot of fond memories from that Club. It was quite a divers place with something for everyone. If I remember correctly the building was called "Fantasy".

Pierce, look on muscleservice, there is always updated information on James of LI.

Sounds pretty cool, but do you know if this place is accessable from the train or subway? Like most New Yorkers I don't own a car and don't have the "liquid assets" to tool around with a car service. If you have any info, that would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Regina, the next time I go I'll ask, but I do remember one dancer talking about taking the LIRR to Mineola. I don't know if the LIRR has a stop in New Hyde Park.

Hey guys,I've only been to Rainbow Lounge once yet i only live about a 20-25 minute drive from it.If any guys from here are going on a Friday night let me know.I'd be into meeting you and having a night out.I can also pick you up at train station if you need.Long Island has very few gay bars and clubs left because of dwindling attendance so I'm gonna try and make every effort to support this place as much as possible. It's just not that easy at times because I care for an aging parent.

I'm sad to report that the Rainbow lounge closed last week. Its supposed to be just temporary but I've heard that about bars and clubs out here many times before.

RE: Life without the Gaiety.

Sorry to hear this, seems that NY is losing many of it's popular gay bars. Cooper was filling me in on this place when we were at Le Stock Bar. It sounded like a kewl place. Hope it's just temporary.

Hi Guys,

I was speaking with the Buffboyzz on Saturday night when they were performing at the Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse is another gay night spot that has been around for many years because it is just down the street from the ferry dock to go to Fire Island. Anyway, one of the guys told me that a new guy had bought the bar and was doing some work inside. I will find out for sure if it will be open this Friday and post another message. I think that the temporary nature of the close is true being that another person has just bought the bar. I will get back to you on this.

RE: Rainbow Lounge, to be or not to be

Liguy and Rapaz, thanks for the updates on the Rainbow Lounge, I was starting to think that my reviews were the kiss of death to these clubs. :-)

I gave the bar a call but the number listed is disconnected, so any new updates would be appreciated.

RE: Rainbow Lounge, to be or not to be

Hey Guys,

I just got the official word that the Rainbow Lounge will be open on Friday and the Buffboyzz will be appearing. The bar changed hands and there was a delay in getting the town permit, but all is well now. I received this information from the Buffboyzz' manager in an email so I know that it is correct information.

Hope to see some of you guys out there.

Rapaz, Thanks for providing us with the official buff-boyzz update. Hopefully, the LI crowd will continue to support this bar under it's new owners.

RE: Rainbow Lounge, to be or not to be

I returned to the Rainbow Lounge on Friday night and I'm happy to report it's still open. There are new owners and the bar will be getting a new name.

The Buff-Boyzz team was also back. Their manager Johnny will greet you at the door and, using the discount coupon, admission is $5.00. The bartender was new, his name is Danny and he's very friendly. He replaced Chris who had the looks and build of Jason Adonis. Danny is youthful looking and has a medium soft build... Also, there was a new bar-waiter who's part of the Buff-Boyzz team named Christian. He's hot looking, with lots of energy, and fun to be with. His job was to serve the shots/shooters. I think his policy is one for you and one for me. :-)

The 2 dancers who performed were the same as 2 weeks ago, Eric and Greg. They are well liked by the customers and provide both on and off stage entertainment. Good time had by all.

One highlight of the night was when the bartender, Danny, laid down on the bar, shirtless and with his pants off... as he put it, he was "open for tips". He's very playful and welcomes suggestions.

Not as many patrons as 2 weeks ago, but stil a good crowd. Rapaz7 joined me as he celebrated his b'day with lots of attention from the buff-boyzz. Also nice meeting LIguy and "P", the Victorian man from the Bronx. Hope to see you guys back next Friday.

Cooper, thanks for keeping us updated on what is happening over the Rainbow!

As for next Friday night, depending on events in Rome, you may be occupied with your new job! Pope Lucky I ?????????????:)

One of the complaints that the bar La Fleur's received was the big cost for a small drink. At Rainbow Lounge, using the discount coupon available at the door, you get your drinks for $3.00 until midnight.
