you know there are a group of americans, well they call themselves americans who are crying about the way the prisoners are being treated in cuba. fuck them!

take these fucking asshole's who want to do more harm to america and its citizens to ground zero and make them clean the fucking place up. then force them into slave labour and make them re-build the wtc one fucking brick at a time.

give them only enough water and food to keep them alive enough to do the work.

when it is done put them on the top floor and push them the fuck off!

as for the americans who are so concerned about the way we are treating them, well, i am just happy that i am canadian.. fuck them too!

wow....that's quite an idea....

Ever the PC one, here's my waterdowned opinion on treatment in the jails.....

I agree to the extent that they are prisoners of war, and as a group, they are fighting to bring us down, and keep a regime up who promotes the killing of others, so I have no sympathy for them and their plight, and certainly am not going to advocate for better treatment in their new homes......I would love for them to feel as scared as the wtc victims must have felt.

In much more general terms, it's deplorable with how much our western system coddles prisoners.....Anyone found guilty of murder, child abuse, rape, etc should never be parolled, should never be given a second chance...lock them up forever, and place them in an environment that gives them the basics, and that is it...this whole thing they have worked up with gyms, tv, libraries, etc really burns me..afterall, they took so much away from their victims, they don't deserve much in the way of anything in retn.

But clearly, if they are going to retn into our society, then there has to be something I guess, in order to prep them for eventual release....well, I say, throw out the key and lock them up forever!

There is an excellent article in today's WSJ about this issue. One point made by an IRC official who is involved in inspecting Camp X-Ray seems to me worth repeating. If American service personnel are captured by Taliban or other hostile forces in Afghanistan -- of which there are still plenty on the ground -- how would we want them to be treated?

This general plan was tried by the Germans in the 40s with their despised minorities. It didn't turn out very well.

Last month three men were released from state prison in Illinois after serving 14 years for rape and murder. They were released because DNA testing proved that they could not have committed the crimes of which they had been found guilty. One of the men admitted that he had confessed and implicated the others as a result of threats from the police officers who interrogated him. What would you say to those three men about the treatment they received? How about "Ooops!"

RE: Been there done that

A large part of this struggle is to establish the superiority of modern, enlightenment, western ways against pre-modern Islamic ways. One of the best measures of such a difference is how we treat our enemies. It was interesting to me to read the comments of the two Christian girls, and also a British female journalist, who were held by elements of the Taliban. They both remarked, after they were released, on the generosity and humanity of their treatment. We should demonstrate no less. Let our way of holding prisoners, of adjudicating their guilt, and administering punishment, should such happen, be generous, restrained and civilized.

One caveat though folks. These men are sworn to kill Americans wherever and however they can. The obvious need for humane treatment can't ignore the real physical threat these men pose our forces that hold them. If they could bite the throat out of an American GI I believe they would try even if it meant their own death.

I don't think the Germans had to worry about that with American POW's did they? Or any other group holding another. The Taliban might very well take harsh actions against any Americans unfortuate to fall in their hands. But that doesn't relieve the responsibilty of Coalition forces to handle these men as the dangers they are.

this is very different in that we are not seeking out minorities as the germans did especially with the jews. i am not even suggesting this is islam specific i am saying that any group of people, including the american white kid from pacific p cali who went over to join these assholes should suffer the concequences(sp) and i have to stand by what i said. these people no matter their background have acknowledged that they want to kill americans, they do not specify white or black young or old, they want to kill all americans. and i say if they want to be marters or is it martyrs well i ddont know, then we should help them but first make them clean up the mess they created. maybe even do some yard work for their victims too, then we need to kill them.

also, the flight that went down about a month later over Queens / Rockaway beach dopes anyone now doubt that this was not the work of the first shoe bomber? does anyone believe our government is not holding back loads of information regarding this plane crash? we need to take richard reid to the top of the budgie jump in las vegas, put those little bomb shoes back on him, light the fuse, then push him off. this way he can feel the effect of falling from the "sky" prior to blowing up. stop fooling yourself guys, this is a real war that threatens all of us in every country that doesn't align itself with these type of people.

I'm sure I'm not quoting this precisely, but I remember someone saying something to this effect: "The character of a nation is shown by how it treats its prisoners". I fully appreciate the anger that many Americans have over the events of September 11. I've been directly involved in disaster response work, mainly in New Jersey. I've been to Ground Zero several times now. I've worked with those who've lost loved ones. I won't tell anyone how they should feel, because to do so would be stupid, arrogant, and presumptious. What I do know firsthand is that not everyone who lost a family member or friend is screaming for blood.

And as for the coddling of prisoners, a la weight rooms and television, guess what group is one of the strongest advocates for keeping these so-called "luxuries"? The answer may surprise you: the correctional officers who work in the prisons. Their reasoning is primarily practical and not particularly altruistic: it is much easier to manage and keep order among inmates who have some form of diversion that interests them than it is to control an angry, brooding mob.

Also, the "lock 'em up and throw away the key" notion may be appropriate in specific cases, but not as a general rule.

In our system of justice, the standard is that punishment is meted out after conviction, not before trial. That's the way it should be.

Is it possible that some innocent folks might have got scooped up with the guilty? It is certainly possible, because it has happened before. That's why we have courts and a trial process: to determine innocence or guilt.

If we're the greatest country on earth, as some are so quick to point out, then I suggest to those super-patriots that they have a little faith in our system of government and our espoused "way of life". Our system of justice may not be perfect, and mistakes are made from time to time, but I'll trust it anyday over the cries for mob justice and vigilanteism.

Just my opinion.
