Saturday morning, January 19th, I'm off to Brazil for three weeks. While I may log on occasionally while I'm in Brazil, I don't plan to spend my valuable time there glued to the Internet, compreende? ;) And I've got lots to do beforehand to get ready for the trip, so my time this week is limited. In other words, if you don't hear from me for a while, it's not because I died, I've just gone to heaven!

If you need information for your own Latin American trips while I'm away, please use the extensive resources that are already posted here. Start with the reviews under "Escorts Outside USA," including my semi-world-famous one on Brazilian Saunas (hopefully to be updated soon after extensive personal on-site research). Then read the various threads on the "Escorts South of the U.S.A." bulletin board, and some of the other threads on Brazil/Rio in the "Lounge" and the "Deli." If you still have questions after you've read all of that feel free to send them to me, but I don't guarantee any responses until I get back February 11th.

Meanwhile, to those who already have travel planned to Brazil: have a fabulous time! PLEASE post your reviews/reactions here on M4M, so the "Escorts South of the U.S.A." board doesn't become an "All-Trilingual, All-The-Time" site!

Até breve, abraços!

Have loads of fun, enjoy sweet chocolate and whipped cream, and tell us voyeurs in great detail about it when you come back. Have a safe trip!

Just another warning for guys traveling down south. I have a Mecosur pass for intra-South American travel. After the Argentine peso collapsed on Friday, none of the other countries, for the moment, are honoring Aerolinas Argentinas tickets. So I had to scramble onto Varig for my flight from BA to Rio. AA is fine for travel within Argentina, not just cross border.

Geee Trav,

I wish I had that problem. :)

I just had to scramble to get on a flight from Dallas to Atlanta. :(

How is BA? Does even come close to Rio?

The Portenos are tall, thin, very good looking, arrogant fucks. Disdain is an art form. Black is the only color allowed to be worn. The eating and partying schedule follows Madrid standards, which is extremely vampire-friendly. I speak vary little Spanish, but my friends speak English, and they explain to their current favorite 'scorts exactly what I like. Big fun, but city fun like New York or London or Paris.

Good description of the Porteños, Trav. However, the disdain is a bit of an act. Underneath, they're actually kind of insecure and once you get past the act they're mostly very nice.

B.A. is definitely an urban scene; it's not a resort. The "better" parts of town are very grand and elegant. The Porteños may all wear black in the colder seasons, but their summer is hot and steamy (think Washington or New Orleans) so much lighter clothing becomes the norm and you'll see lots of extremely hunky guys in the parks wearing nothing but a pair of gym shorts while jogging or kicking a football around with their friends. Drool! :9

As Trav said, the hours are like Madrid: VERY late. If you don't take a serious disco nap before hand, you won't last through the night.

As of today, it's about US$1 = A$1.70, so Buenos Aires should be much less expensive than it used to be, including escorts. Don't get hustled into paying too much. We're talking about a country with 20% unemployment, and maybe more among younger people, plus average wages are much lower than in the U.S. (although much higher than Brazil). So escort rates should be proportional. Trav, do you have any info to share on current rates in B.A.?

Just emailed my friend in BA. He's always bitching at me not to overpay. If I hear back before tomorrow afternoon, I'll post his response.

Trilingual, I'm envious. I'm not planning a return until the end of this year. I'm anxious to hear your report. I'm going to stay longer and then plan a mid-visit excursion to either Salvador or Sao Paulo. (You're input on my choice will be appreciated.) Also, I told my Dr. that when I return, I want to take some Viagra with me for an all-nighter!!!

1) Hard to choose between São Paulo and Salvador, they're so different, but both worth experiencing. If you can only do one, you'll have to read your guide books carefully and choose for yourself. I'm not the best person to ask about this because I'm notoriously easy: I usually like anyplace I happen to be at the moment!

2) Thanks for the offer to buy me a journal, but just watch the site after I get back. I'll do my best to add any updates. But what's so heartwarming about Brazil is that a lot of these places are virtual institutions, so there may not have been that many changes since my last visit! The guys change, of course, but there seems to be an endless supply of replacements that's absolutely mind-boggling.

3) Buenos Aires: Spoke this afternoon with my best friend there. The dollar hit A$2.00 today so if that keeps going on it's getting cheaper by the minute for people with dollars. He said it's possible to pick up a guy for the equivalent of US$10 on the street. A new night-time pick-up site is along the back wall of Recoleta Cemetery along Azcuénaga Street. It used to be female hookers, but apparently guys are now working the block, too. My friend lives nearby, so this is very convenient! Almost as handy as having a take-out chicken restaurant in the neighborhood! ;) If you pick one up, take him to a love motel ("albergue transitorio" in Porteño Spanish). He should know where there is one that's gay friendly, but they're also listed in the local gay guides in NX magazine or "La Otra Guía."

OK. This is it. 9:30 a.m. and I'm outta here for the next three weeks. So have fun rummaging through all the reviews and message center postings, and even more fun if you're actually in or on your way to Latin America yourself! Remember to post all your own discoveries!

BTW, I just realized that Monday is the date I officially become eligible for retirement. Who knows if I'll ever come back? :9
