anyway, since the uproar over a very innocent & even nice posting of mine in the escort travels section, i thought i'd take a gander at the published rules. know what i found? hooboy must have some vendetta against me. he is simply not applying published rules. he's being arbitrary about deleting things i post.

 

care to see my explanation?

1)nowhere in the "Message Center Rules" does it specify any particular form a message must take in any of the fora. hoo simply says that he'd like people to be polite. anyone who read my posting would have to agree that it was likely the most polite thing i've ever posted here. there was no personal information released, nor anything even remotely libelous.

 

starting to seem fishy, huh???

 

2)he says that unless a message violates the "no libel, no personal info" rules, it WILL NOT be deleted:

"Moderators will delete messages either in the queue or from the board itself if they are perceived as violating one of the two basic rules listed above. Moderators will not delete messages that do not violate the guidelines. "

 

3)granted, he reserves for himself the right to revise the rules, but one would assume that any such revision would be announced before we're expected to abide by it, no?

 

4)at the main message center page, there is only a guideline for submission of postings. the stated goal is to keep things current. since the time frame in my posting had not passed, deleting it didn't keep things current, did it?

 

5)hoo claims to have ALWAYS removed anything that didn't follow his template. other posters here (other than myself!) dispute that. it is claimed that in the past, a simple "please conform" message has been sent.

 

so... it is CLEAR that the man acted arbitrarily & unfairly. i find it especially odd since he repeatedly asserts that he wants the message center to be a pleasant place for all. hmmm... that explains yanking the nicest posting i've ever made. PLEASE understand: i'm not sitting here claiming my guarantees to free expression have been violated. this is a private website, so that is not at issue. what IS at issue is arbitrariness & meanspiritedness.

I think you making too much out of this and keeping whatever uproar going.

 

Your post was innocent and more it was a nice update on your status.

 

THere is a lot of work to running this site and no one needs to make it a 24/7 job. SO when rules/requests are broken repeatedly (not by the same person necessarily) some times we just take expedient action and move on. See my escort polling forum for some of my messages of expedience. These things happen and they are an indication of frustration in general rather than with anyone particular.

 

Hoo's pulling you travel post was innocent wrt there being any vendetta against you.

 

It is not the first time a travel post has been pulled for format issues and he has announced from time to time his format wishes for that section. That is the ONLY section where a format request has been issued. And it makes sense for forum maintenance.

 

So welcome back, accept the explanation at face value and let all of us enjoy your return. Life is too short to wrap it around unnecessary axles. I got a similar sort of impression from your initial post as well.

It all comes down to this: can you follow simple instructions, or not? Since I was away from the site for a couple of days, I never saw your post, but evidently, you didn't follow the rules listed, so your post was deleted. If you'd followed the rules, your post would still be there (if the time hasn't expired, that is). Simple as that.

you're not quite on target. that amounts to a request, not something that is set in stone as a rule. you'll notice that in the section "message center rules" there is NO MENTION WHATSOEVER.

now, then, given the fact that the intent of the REQUEST was to keep messages current, there was no problem.

FURTHER, it was claimed that there is no archive. there is. it was claimed that messages are all current. explain the message from sean & casey from DECEMBER then. if the "rules" are bent for them, why not for a message that would have cleared some stale air?

Yes there is with only one post in it. I think it's an error or oversite based on the following.

That Sean & Casey post is for December 2000 and the post date/time is Oct-31-00, 10:20 PM (EST). This leads me to believe it's an oversite.

Since the archived post is over a year old and since S&C have been out of the business for quite sometime, I think it's a stretch to believe the post exists as a special consideration or rule bending for them.

Unless the software has changed their is no "undelete" function just as there is no "edit" function. Once a post is deleted, it's gone and would have to be recreated from scratch.

barry, my claim all along is that things have been done meanspiritedly & arbitrarily. how on earth can someone explain removing my post by saying he is only keeping things current, when there is something over a year old there? it just doesn't make sense.

yes, it is his decision. i find this all the more amusing since he tried to pretend to be nice to me last night via email. he wanted to talk, but i had plans, so i offered to talk today. i even changed some plans around to fit it into his desired schedule. when i didn't hear anything from him, i just chalked it up to being an asshole, which i should have done in the first place.
