And why did my query show up below posts dated in Dec/Jan?

From time to time we'll "pin" a topic so that it always stays on the top of a forum. Usually, these topics have information that we'd like to keep available to all posters.

 

Those topics show up with the art deco-ish "push pin" icon. There are four in this forum, immediately above your "PS" post.

 

That explains why your post shows up below November/December posts ... those have been pinned.
