i had a situation where i got an email that looked like it was from hooboy, but wasn't.

the guy had simply used the send external email function on this site.

how about maybe making up a dummy email address, so people don't think it is hooboy that is contacting them? or, maybe automatically noting that in the subject header?

Why do we care if Ethan agree's he doesnt care if we dont like what he is doing. Lets dont cater to him. I would like to see the counter get fixed first is we have priorities in here.:p

Love ya Chaz, but I disagree here. The counters have no consequence.

As a moderator I routinely receive e-mail from "hooboy@male4malescorts.com". I often need to do a double-take because it doesn't sound like HooBoy.

For starters, HooBoy might get a more ascerbic response than a message center correspondent if I know who I'm corresponding with.

I feel very strongly that this enhancement should be put in place as soon as is humanly possible. The counters will fix themselves as soon as the authors of the software release appropriate patches. In other words, they'll take care of themselves.

The "from" address is a fundamental flaw either in the software or in the current configuration.

It's a bit of a different thing.

Ethan is right to raise this issue. It is an issue I've raised myself in private.

The counters will be fixed eventually by the people who wrote the message center software, and Daddy will install either a new version or whatever patch they provide.

The strange thing is that the server seems to be storing the numbers properly but just not displaying them consistently or properly.

M4M is running version 6.2 of the DC Forums software. The counters error is evidently fixed in version 6.22, which became available on December 15th.

I seldom recommend updating to new versions of software right after they've been released and I expect that whoever supports this site is taking that approach. However, 6.22 appears to be stable, so perhaps they'll choose to upgrade fairly soon.

Regarding the return email address, my strong suspicion -- although it's only a suspicion -- is that it's simply an installation parameter and probably pretty easily changed.

We can hope. But Daddy is a volunteer who is often very very busy.

My impression as well.
