The dollar is now below R$1.60. So much for the "good ol' days" of R$3.50. With the value of the dollar being so low, Brazil has lost somc of its appeal, and Argentina is looking better and better. As I read on the internet, tourism in Argentina, Mexico, and a couple of other countries south of the USA has risen sharply whereas American tourism to Brazil has dropped drastically. Go figure. Will the dollar ever rise again? Who knows? Perhaps we have a better chance of seeing the price of gasoline in the US drop to below $2.00 (ha-ha). Oh how I miss my Brazilian adventures. Now to sit back, relax and listen to one of my old favorite tune, "Memories....."

Things are bad for the dollar, but not quite as bad as all that. According to "O Globo," the dollar closed at R$1,70 on Friday. But it may go lower, and there's no seeming bottom in sight. . .
