Before being able to answer with much specificity you need to say why are you going to Mexico. The city sprawls, traffic is a nightmare and the metro system has Tokyo-like crowds during rush hours. If you're going primarily for business, you need to know the part of town you'll be working in and try to find accommodations nearby.

If you're going just for sightseeing or fun, locations closer to the center of town are best. Hotels in the Historic Center, Zona Rosa, or Polanco are good bets. Hotels range from big international chains to small locally owned properties. Prices vary accordingly.

I haven't been to Mexico for a long time, but in the past I stayed at (and enjoyed) the inexpensive Majestic (on the Zócalo facing the National Palace and Cathedral) and the Geneve (in the Zona Rosa). Other posters, I hope, will have more recent recommendations for you. Enjoy!

I'd contact Michael Bunch at Arco Iris Travel. His speciality is Mexican travel and he know which hotels are accomodating to our interests. He has packages but also does individual travel and for my last trip he was charging $25 booking fee which was quite reasonable because he negotiated special rates at those hotels.

Mywelf, I wouldn´t bring a trick to my hotel in Mexico City, I don´t trust people I meet there, and I speak Spanish. I enjoy the saunas with working boys, like the Senorial very safe. I go Mexico City several times a year. One thing to note, the workers keep knocking at your door for massage, just say no til you see one you like, and many don´t show up til 3 or 4 p.m.

Even if I lived a few years in Mexico City, I went very rarely to a Sauna, they are quite basic, not very clean, and you don't feel very safe.

Anyway SENORIAL is a little better and you could be lucky in your choice of "working boys".

There are a good number of escorts in Mexico City.

My BEST choice would be VIKTOR, a mexican/russian muscular hunk in his 30's, who is reviewd here.

Mexico City is fun, just be safe as in any chaotic huge city with a high crime rate!

I´m going to Mexico City June 21, will give an update as to going rates. Also, if you speak Spanish well, bargain with the working staff, more than any other such establishment I´ve been too.

That's probably a bit of an over-generalization, altho' as has been pointed out many times on this Board, 'tis better to be safe than sorry.

Another option, particularly if you meet someone (hustler or just a guy looking for some action) in the ALameda Central is to use a short-time hotel or Banos Mina, located nearby. At Mina, you can rent a private sauna for (if I recall) 85 MXP for 2. Or, a regadera privada (private shower) for 2 for 50 MXP. The latter has a shower (with warm water) adn a separate room with a little couchette, upon which one can frolic. }( Not luxurious, of course, but clean, clean towels and oh so convenient! And no worries about visitors to your hotel room.
