Does this bother you?

One of the things I've enjoyed a great deal since I've been a Message Center participant is getting better acquainted with fellow clients and escort who post here. And by and large, it has been a happy experience. But on occasion, there is one thing that tends to bother me a bit, and it is this: Either you send a private message or email to someone here and you never get a response. This seems to be particularly true of some of the younger escorts, the very kind I'm most inclined to hire. Mind you, I'm not saying that the email's content was to set up an appointment, but rather to get to know the escort better, with the definite possibility that I might very well decide to hire them in the future. I try very hard to respond to every personal email or private message I receive (unless it is an attack of some sort, and I even respond to those too, at times). I'd be interested to hear the thinking of others on this topic, from both client and escort perspectives. I realize circumstances vary, and sometimes folks may be away and not able to respond, but nevertheless, if I have time to post here, I have time to respond to communications from others here as well. I'd much prefer a short email reply saying, "Thanks, but my schedule doesn't allow me the luxury of email contact unless it is for business" as opposed to no response at all. And to those who haven't responded in the past, don't worry, I have no intention of "naming names" or urging anyone to "fess up" or anything else that might cause humiliation or embarassment. That's not my style. I had a certain amount of reluctance at starting this thread at all, but thought it might be a good learning experience for some of those who may actually limit their earning potential by failing to recognize the importance of communicating effectively with potential clients. In my opinion, a quick reply is better than no reply at all.

It continually astounds me at the use of email when contacting escorts. As this message center shows, you can't tell nuances at all with email. (Altho if you use those cute little Wal-mart signs maybe you can show a tad more emotion.) If an escort lists a phone number in the ad, as well as an email address, there is no question. I only email if that all there is and then only to get a phone number. Without a good amount of phone time, you're inevitably setting yourself up for a fall. Emailing is just a waste of everyone's time, except a hustlers.

Later.

PS. I believe we've finally buried Green. He came back more times than Holtzman.

I've met many, many clients via email that I never once spoke directly with before I met them. Many have become long-term clients and a few (married, usually) have yet to ever call me on the phone.

I think it's just a difference in personalities and professionalism. The long-term guys realize this is a business, a fun one, but still a business and customer service comes first in all business. I see so many newbies come and they're gone within a month or two. Usually you can tell the ones that won't last, they are the ones that are rude and arrogant about their looks, they think they can pick and choose from thier clients and think escorting is a way to make a lot of money having sex with hot guys. LOL, one local kid even had in his profile: "you must send pic before we meet, and if you're uncut I'm outta there!". What a dork, not surprisingly he is no longer escorting... :)

I've met tons of guys without ever speaking on the phone to them. I actually prefer to arrange things via email... usually my appointments are booked days in advance... so it helps that I have my schedule in front of me when making arrangments... Phone calls, well they come when you're having dinner, watching a movie, out grocery shopping... Not that I mind phone calls, but I'm usually caught off guard, and it seems stilted and awkward.

so there you go... to call or not to call... most people say they are suprised at my voice... I often wonder what that means... were they expecting a gay accent? : )

Matt, try not to answer the phone with your mouth/ass full next time! Or were you changing into your rugby uniform? ;-)

Oh yeah, they were expecting a cute French-Canadian beaver accent! }>

Well I try my best to send some kind of reply when I get an email. If I don't have time to reply I just say that I will email them later when I have more time. Thats the fair thing to do, I think. Here lately I average about 30 or so emails a day asking me questions, yada yada. Lately I have managed to answer all of them almost immediately since I have just been setting up appointments and heading out on very late night appts. My biggest downfall is my IM. I have been known to get too distracted from replying on my im's and more concerned w/ my emails. Trust me I am working on it! BuckyXTC, you sent me an IM today and I told you I was on the phone. I felt bad because I was on the phone for 4 hours w/ the Owner of http://www.themalenude.com . Believe me I haven't forgot it and I do apologize for not replying again saying that I was going to be awhile and I didn't have time to talk. I totally agree with your post and I try to react like how I would want to be reacted too, from the customers point of view. Besides you sent me the sweetest email who would not wanna talk to you!:9

As I have opined before, I think it's very rude to ignore e-mail unless it's spam or offensive/insulting. If the escort doesn't wish to carry out a conversation prior to meeting, that's quite understandable. A two or three sentence response such as "Thank you for your interest. I'm sorry, but my volume of e-mail precludes a detailed response until you're ready to come to this area. Are you interested in hiring?" shows some empathy for the person writing without taking more than 30 seconds of time. It even keeps the lines of communication open.

When an escort ignores his e-mail, it just pisses of the potential client. He might even comment about it to others. I've had private comments sent to me about so-and-so being too stuck up to answer his e-mail.

So if someone ignores your e-mail, be grateful. You've learned something about the guy. He has some degree of self-centeredness and lack of empathy. And very bad business sense, since e-mail costs nothing, and anybody who writes is a potential customer. Marketing doesn't get much cheaper or more effective, for crying out loud! ;-)

Bucky,

I agree with you (yet again).

I like to exchange e-mails with a perspective escort as a way of getting to know him (and him me). Inasmuch as I am based in Europe and travel frequently, the telephone contact is not possible until actually in the city itself. I prefer, however, having certain parameters set before we meet (what I like, what he likes; what I expect, what he is willing to do; etc...)

Also, for me it is important that the escort be able to "converse" and have some fluency in one of the languages I speak, and the e-mail tests that a bit (although, admittedly some industrious guys get others to write both their web pages and their w-mails for them).

When the note goes unanswered for some time, I write a "reminder" and after that, if still no answer, I assume he is not interested. I used to get bothered by the lack of answers, but am more philosophical now: he is busy, his computer is not functioning, he is on an extended escort, he is vacationing, he is just plain not interested.

I stated my reluctance to even raise this issue in my initial post, because I feared folks I wasn't referring to might feel I was referring to them, and that is precisely what has happened.

Yesterday, I had email from one of the really sweet, funny escorts apologizing if he hadn't replied to email from me. After going back through my "sent" file, I can't find that I ever sent him any email, though I might have sent a private message. Since private messages don't get stored on the server where you can access them unless you get a reply, I simply don't know. The email was both kind and apologetic.

And now AdamLV responds here, and I didn't specifically have him in mind either, especially in the case of an AOL instant message. Nobody realizes better than me just how inconvenient Instant Messenger can be when you're in the middle of a phone call or doing something else when someone IMs you, even someone you may wish to communicate with but just don't have time to at a given moment. So Adam, take heart, I was in no way upset that you couldn't communicate with me via IM when I sent one your way.....you indicated you were on the phone, and I indicated, "no problem, enjoy your call". My apologies if you felt my remarks were somehow aimed at you. Yes, I recently sent you email, but it was so recent that I wouldn't necessarily expect a reply in so short a period of time. You alluded to it in your post, and it was more of a friendly nature anyway, not specifically related to an appointment. So please don't get the impression that I was sniping at you; I assure you I wasn't.

I guess I should have predicted that I'd get apologies from those I wasn't referring to, and hear nothing from the ones I was. In any event, maybe the thread serves to remind all of the escorts here that a response to email is always a good business practice, and even more, a good practice in general.

I'm not sure about that. I suggest we drive a stake through his heart, pack his mouth with garlic, and bury him at a cross-roads.:-)

BuckyXTC,

I knew that you weren't snipping at me but I just felt like I needed to apologize anyway. :-) I try to react as fast as my clients or friends react. I use to do tech support so answering emails promptly is my #1 Goal. My brain loggs stuff when it hasn't been completed and our conversation hadn't. hehe Ok so now you have clocked me as a perfectionist, well I am to a certain extent. I just enjoying making everyone happy. Thanx Pal F-F-E

I have used e-mail to contact some guys, only to obtain their phone numbers so that we can talk. I have always found that contact useful. What astonishes me is the big number of escorts for whom I leave messages - who never even call me back. I sometimes wonder if they just didn't like my voice, maybe I sound too average or clean-cut type for their liking. Any advice?
