I met Roberto and his lover through Gaydar.co.uk. Roberto ended meeting my flight into RIO and taking me to my hotel. He and his lover invited me to their home the following Sunday for an all day typical Brazilian Bar B Que and pool party. They have become great friends. Later during my stay, Alex and I along with another M4Mer met them for Sushi at a great place known only to the locals.

Roberto also picked me up at my hotel and drove me to meet my departure flight. So obviously I had great success with meeting guys from Gaydar.co.uk. During my stay I received messages from several other locals interested in meeting up.

As with everything regarding the internet, use wisdom in your planning because you need to be careful, there are nuts in any city. But, in answer to your question, to quote our beloved Franco,

"it depends".

Hope you enjoy your trip to Brazil and all she has to offer.

I met my new Brazilian boyfriend on Gaydar, and he is now living with me in Rio. So yes, there are certainly some worthwhile guys on Gaydar.

Still, anyone can sign up and there's no real screening. Anyone can post pictures that aren't of themselves, or describe themselves in ways that are misleading or just plain false. So caution is advisable. Do your best to get to know the person you're corresponding with before meeting him in person, and when you do make it on neutral ground. Tell a friend or traveling companion what you're doing and where you're going. Don't invite a perfect stranger to your hotel room or apartment. Instead, go to a "motel" or non-escort sauna. There will be time to invite someone to your place after you know them better and decide they're someone you want in your life!

There's no need to be paranoid about Gaydar (or just meeting Brazilians on the street, in bars, etc.) but use common sense and everything should be fine!!!
