In the past few days I had the opportunity to patronize the Hotel Lido, conveniently located not far from the Copacabana Palace and the gay beach in Copacabana. It's located in a converted house on the corner of r. Ronald de Carvalho and av. Min. Viveiros de Castro (a short intermediate street that parallels and is in between Av. Copacabana and Av. Barata Ribeiro). A two hour period is R$30. An overnight (12 hours) is R$70. It's clean, the rooms have bathrooms, porno TV and air conditioning, and it certainly beats having to shlep downtown to one of the "motels" there.

 

Alex, of Apollus, also mentioned a new place in Botafogo (the neighborhood adjoining Copacabana in the direction towards downtown). It's called the Panda. I don't have an address for it, but it's apparently pretty well known, so I think if you ask around you can locate it. It's evidently a more luxurious establishment, with theme rooms, so I assume it costs somewhat more. From what I gathered from Alex, it's been the scene of a number of porno films and photo shoots.
