New Saunas Opening

Rio's Netgay announces the opening of two new saunas. One, called "By69" (whatever THAT's supposed to mean) opens December 27th at Rua Bulhões de Carvalho, 21. It's not clear from the advertising or the announcement if it will have escorts.

 

The new mega-enterprise in Copacabana at the location of the former Ibiza (at Siqueira Campos, 202 -- close to the existing Roger's) will be known as the Termas Fortaleza. No specific opening date has been set yet, but according to Netgay it should be in early January. This will be a cooperative venture between Juninho, owner of Estação, and Edgard, owner of São Paulo's Lagoa. Termas Fortaleza will have escorts, needless to say. The new Fortaleza should give Club 117 and the other saunas-with-escorts a run for its money, so expect promotions, special events, new facilities, etc. in the battles to attract and keep clients. I wonder if they're going to put in a helipad so it's easier to ferry guys back and forth between Fortaleza and Lagoa?

 

BTW, the new Siqueira Campos metro station was inaugurated last week by the state governor and should be open for public use sometime this week. This will be very convenient for guests at the now wildly popular Atlântico hotel (aka the Tomcal Towers).

A gay newspaper I got while in Rio has an ad for this place (Termas Fortaleza), with the announced opening date of Jan 25.

 

The by 69 sauna also has an ad, with all the same "buzz words" (dry and wet saunas, "cabines", video lounges,... plus, extended hours:

Thinking I'd check out Ibiza, I went by there today.

I peaked in, and every room I could see was being gutted.

Now, thanks to Tri, I know what Ibiza is being replaced

with.

 

Wish I were going to be here for its inauguration.

But, from the looks of things, I will be surprised if

it makes the January 25 opening date that AlphaDog noted.

Virtually all of the saunas have the same features "by69" is advertising, whether or not they feature escorts, so they aren't a definite give-away. It may just turn out to be a non-escort gay sauna that's open late. However, even if it doesn't have escorts it may be a godsend if you pick someone up elsewhere and would like to take your new acquaintance somewhere other than your hotel or to a "motel."
