Cruising the Argentina section of Rentboy I came across Leoush (or Leonardo), a tour guide in Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego, who apparently offers a very special service! }( To save you the trouble, his advertised phone number is +54+3722+519448. He can also be seen on Gaydar at http://www.gaydar.co.uk/leoush, with a number of photos showing some of the spectacular scenery in the uttermost South.

For the geographically challenged, Tierra del Fuego is the big island at the southern tip of South America. The island is actually divided, with the eastern part of it in Argentina, the western part in Chile. Tierra del Fuego's the last stop before Antarctica; Ushuaia (in the Argentine part) is the world's southernmost city. Tierra del Fuego's kind of like a mini-Alaska, with mountains, lakes, fjords and glaciers. For the outdoorsy type, a tour with Leo could be fun! If anyone decides to venture to the bottom of the inhabited world with their Mercosur Pass, check him out and report back to our eager readers! :p

TRAVEL TIPS: Unless you want to impress your friends by bragging about skiing at the world's southernmost slope, you probably want to avoid Tierra del Fuego in the wintertime. It's dark, wet and cold, although there might be a chance to see the Southern Lights (aurora australis). Best time to go is in the southern hemisphere summer (December, January, February) to enjoy the best weather and long hours of daylight. Also, it may be far away, but Tierra del Fuego isn't completely primitive. This is one of the most wonderful places I´ve ever visited, particularly the chilean side of Tierra del Fuego.

There are some very interesting cruises through the "Canales Fueguinos" (http://www.australis.com).

I spent there (last austral summer) the most wonderful holiday ever.

Ushuaia is a nice town, small and friendly, but don´t expect too much gay life there. Anyways, Leoush´s pictures are very promising and I regret his link was not posted here one year earlier :-)
