Well, I haven't heard anything particularly negative about any of these sites. They've been in business for a while, so that suggests they're legit and get local customers. I don't know how well any of these places can deal in English. If you don't speak Spanish, you may find that you get quoted prices in dollars, rather than pesos, which means things would be more expensive. Be sure the prices is 100 pesos, not 100 dollars, before hiring.

I notice Andrés has a cell-phone number listed. In Buenos Aires hard-wired phones are in area code (11); cell phones are all in area code (15). So if you're dialing from a regular phone to a cell phone, you first need to dial 0, then (15) xxxx-xxxx. And vice-versa from a cell-phone to a land-line phone. Check with your hotel if there are any surcharges for such calls, and if you're calling from a pay phone keep the call short. Calling party pays (unlike in the U.S.) and per minute charges are fairly high. They'll use up your phone card fast!

I've been with some escorts in Buenos Aires during my visits in the last years, but no one like Andres (he is really great).

 

Maybe because of the big crisis in Argentina, most of the boys I've been with are not even advertising in any website nowadays (probably they have emigrated). You can find lots of argentinian escorts in Europe and even in the US.

Daniel, first of all thanks for your tips. that wasn't nice of me not to have said this in public earlier. re Andres, yes he´s a terrific individual in many ways (i think to label him exclusively as an escort, or "taxiboy" as they´re known here, is kind of demeaning). as many will find out buenos aires is the "next frontier". a most welcome alternative venue for those who can´t stomach the rough and tumble, gross, unrefined scene prevailing in rio. bs.as is more of a thinking man´s "paradise".

True, as you said Daniel, its hard to find the right companion in Bs.As. The gay scene is very modest compared to its more notorious neighboring city. I was told, although its not very clear to me, that prostitution is illegal in Argentina. This is the main reason why there are no rent boys in saunas. The existing houses of pleasures, I understand, are kind of protected by the police. Andres even mentioned that they (working guys) are at risk from entrapment by the police, although he said situations like that could be arranged. I didnt want to leave Bs.As so soon but commitments in Brazil made it necessary to do so. I even asked Andres to come with me, although this would seem as weird as bringing sand over to Saudi Arabia, but he had his own commitments and couldnt do it. I hope to do a follow up review on Andres when I get back home next month. And I am already planning for my next trip to Argentina. I got seduced... and not just by the Tango that I really love.

That's weird. I am virtually positive that prostitution is legal in Argentina. Just in the past couple of years there was a lot of hoo-hah in the news there about local legislation in Buenos Aires that made it easier for prostitutes to work the streets, much to the consternation of the neighbors in some areas! Of course, that doesn't mean the police corruption has been wiped out, or that payoffs don't continue, but I don't see how shakedowns can be very effective if prostitution isn't illegal.

I also beleive taht prostitution is not illegal there. I´ve been told that "Houses with Boys" are illegal.

That may be the reason why saunas are not escort places.

I suppose that Status and other "brothels" must have their situation very well "fixed", which seems to be simple in BA.

Maybe operating a brothel is illegal? Or pimping? If so, a sauna in the Brazilian style, where the guys get paid directly and the sauna doesn't get a cut of the fee, would probably be legal because the guys wouldn't be working for the owner.

 

There may be some laws on the books I hadn't thought of. I vaguely remember that there was a big "white slavery" problem in Argentina in the earlier part of the last century, and eventually there was legislation and police action to eradicate it. So maybe there are still hangovers from that period.
