For what it's worth..I met this guy when i was at club 117 last week, he told me about being overcharged there and that he didn't like the place, so when i went to Estacio (three times over the next 4 days) i paid close attention and had NO problems, the guy he was referring to at the desk was fine with me, and my bill was for exactly what i had..rooms, drinks, popcorn,

Haven't had the pleasure of meeting our complainant, but I've also never had anything like this happen at one of the saunas. Something doesn't seem right about this, if our complainant allegedly got overcharged at two different places (117 and Estação). Mistakes happen anywhere, and are usually easily corrected, but I find it odd that our complainant supposedly got taken twice. Possibly our trepid traveler misunderstood something because he doesn't speak the language?

I don't want to go so far as saying this is inconceivable, but I've been a worshipper at the steamy shrines of Brazil since 1983, and my bills at the saunas have always been correct, both at checkout and later when they arrived under an innocuous name on my credit card bill. However, if an inappropriate charge shows up on your bill, just point to it and be insistent that "Isto não é meu." (This isn't mine.) You can go down the bill, confirming that "Isto é," or "Isto não é." (This is, this isn't.) Also check to be sure that you've gotten the bill for YOUR locker key number and not somebody else's. If the person at the desk can't fix things, ask for the manager ("o gerente") or the owner ("o dono.") But I doubt you'll ever need these tips, as I still find the whole situation kind of unbelievable.

I've never had any problem with the check and I've been to few bathhouses in Rio and in other cities in Brazil. I would mentally calculate my consumption and know more or less how much the final bill is. If I was overcharged (which is possible) I would be pissed too. But the same incident repeating itself in the same venue...something's just not believable here. I would be less trusting of say the bathhouses in Bangkok where I sojourned for a couple of months early this year. Oh, a remark about the owner or partner of Estacao: I was told that he used to be an escort, stripper or hustler... he's still a hunk.

Just returned from Brazil and will add my experience in never being overcharged by a Termas. In fact the upgrades and substantially increased number of boys at Estacao since January have made in first rate and, I think, now much better than Rogers. I'll do a fuller review of my trip sometime this weekend.
