Looking for someone to go to Rio with for a week in May. Wouldn't it be great if we could get a bunch of guys together from this site?

Anyways, I got loads of frequent flyer miles to use up (enough for at least 2 other guys anywhere from North America). Not that I am looking for 2, but one other travel companion would be nice. I have a friend who has been there many times (he can't go in May) and got all the scoop, and I will be renting a 2 bedroom apartment right on the copacabana.

I thought it would be fun to hang out with someone else who speaks English and wants to check out all the sites! I am not looking for an escort to go with - I have every intention of being quite busy down there with the locals! Looking for another "spirited" soul to cruise the tropics with. I got the air and apartment, the rest of your expenses are up to you. Email me if you're interested - please only serious responses! Don't forget you need a passport and visa - if you don't have the time to do this, don't bother me.

Have you fixed the date of your trip? Are you all set? I'll be down in Rio during the first week of May. Will be a pleasure to hook up and exchange notes.

Hi everyone... just discovered this site recently.

All this talk about Brazil has made me think of taking a trip. I have a very flexible schedule, so I can go anytime on a whim's notice. I've never been there, so I'm ready to make my first trip to South America a complete ADVENTURE!

I know it's wintertime right now in Brazil, but is it really that cold or rainy? I don't want to go during Carnival, so I thought this summer might be okay. I don't mind overcast weather.

I would love to meet up with like travellers as well to kinda show me the ropes (although I have a feeling I can manage just fine once I get over my nerves of entering a sauna! LOL) Plus, it would be good to meet up with someone that speaks English (I don't speak Portugese. :< )

Too bad I was too late in reading this message board about the group going in April... anyone interested in June or July? Let's talk... I don't bite (unless the Brazilian boy asks me to!) Email me.

Thanks guys.... LOL... my first post is about going to a sexarama-thon in Brazil... go figure....

Winter weather in Rio in June or July will be no more severe than in L.A. "Cold" to a carioca means the temperature has plunged into the 60's, necessating a trip to the fur vaults! (Actually, it can be somewhat unpleasant if it's also windy.)

In São Paulo winter can be cooler, because it's higher (about 2500 ft.), and plagued by drizzly winter mist called "garoa." Particularly at night, a sweater and/or jacket may be very welcome. Heading further south, the cooler it can be, especially if you're above sea level. Curitiba can be positively frosty in the winter, and they sell hot spiced fire-water called "quentão" from carts on the downtown pedestrian street. At sea level it's not quite that cold, usually, but it can be rainy and windy, and the damp cold is cutting if you don't have a jacket. For reference, keep in mind that Buenos Aires (which, of course, is in Argentina) is as far south of the Equator as L.A. is north of it. Winter there is usually cooler than L.A., though. More like winter in San Francisco. However, in Brazil it never reaches freezing except in a few of the highest spots in the south that actually get a couple of inches of snow each year! Not anyplace you're likely to be visiting, though!

If you go to Rio in their winter, bring what you'd wear in L.A. in the same season. Some days will be warm, then it may get cooler for a couple of days and a jacket or light sweater will come in handy.

I have been wanting to go to Rio for some time now. My thought was to go in November, just before their high season starts. Also, I have been told that the weather in November is great. I live in Phoenix, so the thought of going while it is summer and hot here and nice and cool there is also very appealing. I probably will do some tourist stuff while there, but bascially I'm going for the boys and the "termas". The selection of hotels is impressive and will probably rely on the advise given here as to my choice. I will probably fly Continental as it has the best connnetions from Phoenix. Change in Houston with one stop in Sao Paulo. Would be happy to coordinate a trip and hook up with a friend in Rio, or even fly on the same flight. I speak basic Spanish and have been studying Brazilian Portuguese. I suspect I will get along fairly well, language wise. I am not at all shy and have no reservations about being in Rio in terms of safety. It boils down to common sense. My goal is to visit as many termas as possible as I intend to rate them with Big Daddy stars.
