I would love to have a friend of mine who I met in Acapulco to go to Rio de Janeiro with me. He is a Mexican citizen. I am a U.S. citizen. Anyone ever try to set up such a situation with the airlines? I'm in Los Angeles. I would want to fly to Acapulco, get him, and then go onto Rio? Any suggestions...... We definitely want to go on the same plane? Much appreciated.

I once brought an Acapulco escort with me on a trip to Costra Rica. We met and spent an evening together in Mexico City before taking the trip south. I believe that I bought the plane tickets here in the US some weeks in advance.

I don't know whether Mexicans need a Visa to enter Brazil. This wasn't required by Costa Rica.

It's probably wise to check with a Brazilian consulate -- or perhaps the info is available on the web.

I'm with Losgatan: Check with a Brazilian consulate. I don't think Mexican citizens need a visa to visit Brazil any longer, but you need to be sure. If they do, your friend will need to have a Mexican passport and get his visa from the nearest Brazilian consulate in Mexico (probably in Mexico City).

You should be able to fly to Mexico to meet your friend and continue on to Brazil, although this will probably end up costing you more than flying from the U.S. The last I knew, Varig flew from Mexico City to Rio, and I think there's also service on Avianca, which may be cheaper. TACA also may have service. Check on Travelocity; it'll show flights originating outside the U.S. and quote prices. Unless you actually want to go to Acapulco first, your friend could just meet you in Mexico City and the two of you can continue on from there.

It's strictly your business, of course, but if your Acapulco friend is an escort, I can't imagine why you'd want to take him to Rio. Talk about carrying coal to Newcastle! :-)
