On the Simpson brouhaha, one Brazilian friend is all fired up, he just can't accept the insult as he puts it. He just couldn't believe the Americans could do this to them.

 

It's nice to be back in the South American/Brazil forum again. I'm finalizing arrangements for a short trip to Rio next month ("para matar saudades" Tri - please translate!). I see our colleague Tomcal is having a shagging good time in Rio. May I ask if he's been to Meio Mundo or Spa 73 and could he let us have his impressions? Another query - how much are the boys charging nowadays for their "programme". How much is the in-call at the hotel, do you pay by the hour or per session? I notice in some posts that some are paying up to US$150 for a certain escort/guide which I find way too much. I'm concerned that as in any business, the locals will wise up and may start upping their rates for foreigners. A two-tier pricing system is common practice in many countries: one for locals and another for tourists. I have read of unconfirmed reports that some hotels in Brazil are charging foreigners higher rates than for local residents.

I also would like to mention that as much as it is better and more convenient to have company in your hotel room, one mustn't forget the fact that this is risky business in Brazil. The practice of registering or announcing outsider visitors with the hotel's security is for your own safety. It is not meant to deter hotel guests from having personal callers because other business transactions (non-sexual) do take place inside the room. If the boys are dressed decently they could also pass for a salesman, an agent, a co-worker in your company's branch, a delivery person, a relative of a colleague/neighbour in America, etc. Also hotel personnel know all the monkey business going on and they won't bat an eyelash if you take your friend (girl or boy) to register. No embarrassing moments here. This was my experience at the Sheraton and the Sofitel. The hotels don't normally charge an extra fee if the visitor doesn't remain overnight. If you're staying in a rented private apartment, it's a good idea to let the doorman see your new found friend going up with you to your quarters. Not to alarm anyone but last year a gay Italian who's an acquaintance of a Brazilian friend was found dead in his apartment with stab wounds. Money and valuables were also taken. The attacker was one of the boys the Italian was dating who was identified by the porter.

Please reassure your Brazilian friend that people do not base their travel plans or perceptions of other nations on what they see on "The Simpsons." I certainly am not changing my plans to visit Brazil this summer. Bart, Homer et al have traveled to several other countries and done similar satires. These episodes essentially make fun of American xenocentricity and the perceptions/misperceptions that many Americans have of other nations and cultures. Do we really believe that kittens are "processed" to produce Hello Kitty products or that Godzilla routinely takes swipes at planes leaving Narita Airport? When I travel through Japan I have yet to find a talking toilet like the one that announced, "Hello, Homer Simpson - please allow me to accept your waste." :-)

 

Remind your friend that virtually every Simpsons episode is a satire of various aspects of American life. Usually the only negative reactions come from the humor-impaired (George Bush the First comes to mind), hence my surprise that so many Brazilians took it so seriously.

Hi Guys, Here is the third post from this trip to Rio this past week, i will try answer some of the questions that have come up as well as some other info on the "boys" and Saunas! First, I am coming back in October, probably around the third week!! October and April are their Spring and Fall respectively, both times the weather has been outstanding! Day time temps around 82 - 84 and night time 68 - 70, little humidity(Which is what keeps me away during Carnival-High Temps, High Humidity) So, if any of you are planning to go, Let's Talk!!, it would be great to get together with other guys from the States and go.

I met two guys from San Diego, who have said they will definitly come back in October with me, both in their mid 30's at the hotel pool and after my "gaydar" proved me right, I invited them to go with me to the sauans that night. They said , "Oh NO, we would never pay for sex!" I said, "just go with me and have a drink, it's a fun bar to watch what's going on!" Well, you can guess the ending to this, within 15 minutes of being in Estacio, they were upstairs in the Cabines, with the first of several boys that night. I said "well, what do you think", they both go "Oh My God" "its' unbelievable"

The next night we went to 117 which had a great turnout of boys, at least 20-25

I met 4 local men all about in their 50's who told me "do not go to sauana 73" They said "it is a dangerous area especially after 5:00 pm

One of them a law professor at the University, said it is not worth the risk considering the selection you have at the 3 saunas(Rogers' Estacio & Club 117)where it is safe for tourists and locals alike... I Agree!!

This also addresses a question that is on another thread about bodyguards and safty. I have felt very safe at each of the three, estacio is only about 6 or 7 blocks from the beach at the intersection of two major streets, lots of traffic and people, same with Rogers and 117 lots' of pedestrians and traffic, and neither are high crime areas. I walked alone at 11:00 pm or later at least 3 or 4 nights and never felt and hint of not vbeing safe. But if youare unsure about this, have the desk clerk callyou a cab when you are ready to leave, although the taxi stand at 117 is only about a 1/2 block from the entrance. I do not speak Portuguese or Spanish, and i have had no problems.

Hotel occupancy in Rio is about 25% right now!! the spring and fall are their slow months for tourists, there are deals available! I am sure the Marriott is pricey(i cashed in Amemican Express points to stay for free) but I am going to stay there again when i go. It has everything, great location in the middle of Copacabana Beach, 6 blocks from Estacio and 9 blocks from Rogers, Unbelievable Service and Staff, rooftop pool and fitness center with specular views, gay friendly staff(the bellman and one guard caught Rodrigo(see previous post)and I kissing in the elevator when the doors opened and we didn't hear it, and they just smiled and said "have a good evening Sir"

I finally did try one of the Sex Motels that have been mentioned by previous posters. I went with two guys i met in the restaurant at midnight, it wasn't Maxims restaurant but very close to Maxims, and just like it, outdoors facing the beach on Atlantica Blvd. it was in Copa, about 6 blocks from the Marriott, rooms were very similar to the saunas, small, with bed, tiny bath, but pillows! which the saunas don't have.

Payment! I only have paid $50. reyas - 22.00 US $ I don't know who one of the previous poster s was referring to that were getting 150. but none of the boys at the suanas get that. First of all, don't ask them, you go to the cabine with them, do what you are going to do, walk back down to the locker, hand them a %0 reyas bill and say thanks, Some boys have said,(a distinct minority)that they want $100 reyas if they cum! they say that, when they are in the middle of "action". DON'T fall for it. I say "no problem, but Manhana when i come i not see you!! they want the propect of repeat business so usually that ends the discussion, plus the fact that i don't speak Portuguese makes it easy to no engage in further negotiations. Besides the good ones seem to be able to get hard with the hour for the next customer, remember the majority of these guys are 20 - 25

Oh, two other boys at Roger's that i highly recommend, for what it's worh...Lucas, short, muscular, blondish/Brown hair, nice dick, does everything well, and with passion. and my new favorite there, Juan, i am not a twink type of guy, but Juan is 23 , looks younger with a very toned but definitly twink type, also short, passionate kisser, great kisser actually, but then again, this is really splitting hairs, they all are. He has a nice dick, on two occassions i had him meet me at the hotel at 4 in the afternoon. before he went to work at Rogers. I have more to tell but will post it later this week, any ques. give me a holler and i will try to answer, and don't forget...

Apart from Bruno Gaucho (see my review) some guys I spent time with and a mini-review and a rating of their services-

 

Estacao boys:

 

Rodrigo and Marcus - the popular goodlooking 20 y.o. twins, both are supposed to be active but I think could be passive too, tall, bodybuilder types, black hair, green eyes, hung +-9 inches, great kissers, affectionate, very friendly, satisfy your fantasy by having the two together (I only tried Rodrigo though, twice). STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

 

Kevin - Tall, 22 y.o., white, good looking, friendly, playful sometimes annoyingly persistent, 7 inches, good kisser, very versatile, wild and hot in bed. RECOMMENDED.

 

Joave - 24 y.o. go go dancer, short hair, 5'10", terrific body, nice macho face, not more than 6 inches, active/passive, lacks enthusiasm, has a little bit of an attitude. I would hesitate to recommend.

 

Bruno - this one is a personal favorite (not to be confused with the other Bruno Gaucho), 22, 5'10", white, very good looking, black hair, green eyes, 7 inches, fantastic sex, very very versatile, friendly. I'll definitely hook up with him next time around, if not marry him altogether. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

 

Victor - 6'2", black guy, 22, handsome, not that big though for his size (no more than 6 inches), not much of a kisser, a disappointment in bed. Not recommended.

 

Roger's boys:

 

Yan - he's already been reviewed recently (check Brazil escorts for details). I give him a very high rating. Terrific sex partner. You can trust him. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

 

Renato - 21, 5'11", charming, resembles the young actor Sergio Marone who plays Ceceu in the Brazilian novela O Clone (El Clon on Telemundo at 10 pm EST if you want to know), active/passive. So-so sex, he turned me off when he asked for extra 30 reais to come. Overall not a very good experience for me. Not exactly to be recommended.

 

Club 117 boy:

 

Marcio - just turned 18, it was his third working day at the club, 5'10", black hair, very good looking, sexy body, 7+ inches, eager to please, active/passive, surprisingly adept at bottoming (do they start them at a very early age in Brazil?), lacks refinement though, tried to rush me in order to score more. RECOMMENDED.

 

O Globo ads:

 

Roberto - advertises himself as loiro (blond), without attitude, charges R$40. this one's a scam artist. he's got bleached hair, a missing front tooth, smells, looks like into drugs, lives in a tiny, dark, studio that needs a good cleaning. I rushed out of his place after five minutes. MUST BE AVOIDED. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

 

So there you are folks. I shall return to Rio in September hopefully combined with a trip to Buenos Aires.

 

P.S. We stayed at the Hotel Atlantico Copacabana which is conveniently a block away from both Estacao and Rogers. It's 3 stars, located corner of Siquiera Campos and Tonelero. No problem with visitors to your room. In fact, some staff are obviously gay, the food manager is a regular at Estacao. I don't advise bringing your tricks into your room unless you know them very well. If not sure, have them registered at reception or security. It's for your own protection and no big deal a process.
