Note, that`s exotic, not erotic. While it is still on my mind, you might consider Exotic Tours in Rio for more adventurous travel. I did a walking tour of a slum, and a walk\ride tour in Tijuca National Park. Reasonably priced, they also offer other diverse tours, including samba schools. The number is toll free- 1-800-22 8889. Fernando was my tour guide, and Bruno (yum) is his assistant in training. (!)

I am back in New York, having only fond memories of Rio. Bruno was on his best behavior, but I got some vibes there. For a boy that lives in a favela, I noticed he had a walkman and a cellphone.....(Oh, they are probably provided by the tour company!)

I gather you weren't overwhelmed by the bars?

On the proverbial 1-10 scale how would you rate Rio's overall gay scene from escorts to the beach? :7

I would give Rio an 8. The beach was just okay, the bars are a disappointment after New York, BUT the men are beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, and the saunas quite adequate. At first, I did not like Club 117, but I went back and enjoyed it much better. I liked Roger's, and Estacao. The strip show at Roger's on Friday night was great. The cop in uniform stripper sizzled!

I stayed for the show at Estacao, but the first hour was a fat old man who was dancing ecstatically on the stage, in the nude. When the show started, I was relieved, but after the singer came this fat old man again. I figured he must be the owner since anyone else would have been thrown out.

The selection of guys was best at Club 117.

I did try Studio 64, but found the staff cold to the point of hostility, and the facility itself is a dump. If you are there for only a short time, and want the best-looking men, why bother with a place like this?

My trip was pretty impromptu, but if you are planning in advance, learning some Portuguese would be quite helpful. I know that there are those who rave about Rio, and I can understand why.

Did I say the men were beautiful?
