Try the chat rooms on the International Floor of http://www.gay.com. If you're traveling South, especially to smaller countries or out-of-the-way cities, you may be able to make some local contacts here, or get information about where to find what you're looking for. Just keep time differences in mind, so if the chat rooms are empty when you look, try them at a different time when it's more likely that locals will be on-line.

 

Also, there are lots of personal ads from Latin America on http://www.gaydar.co.uk, including some from escorts and guides. Check them out, or even post an ad of your own if you're going to be traveling to Latin America.

 

I haven't checked it yet, but as mentioned by Verde (I believe) on this board there's also gay travel info on the Lonely Planet site, so have a look there.

 

From mid-January to early February '02 I'll be in Brazil doing, um, research, so I decided to post all this stuff now, because I'm not gonna spend my whole trip checking the web and e-mail! There are much bigger and better things to keep me occupied while I'm there! :9 I hope all of this info will be useful to anybody traveling to Latin America, which beyond it's rich cultural is the land of sun, sand and hot, hot men. . .
