Didn't know where else to post this, so I thought I'd ask here:

Going to be taking my mother on a vacation to both places (my father just passed away, so I want to treat her to see something in her life) But I also want to be close to places that I can go and have "fun".... so any recommendations on where to stay in either place that would allow me to do that?

Also, if you don't know a place to stay, what part of town are the saunas in and I can do some research from there... I know with the weak dollar hotels are pretty pricey but I'm looking at more inexpensive yet clean places to stay.

I know there is a lot of experience here so I appreciate your help!

Thanks

Lately the Lounge has been the area for posting subjects about Amsterdam, Prague, Buenos Aires, and now your topics. There is a forum for European issues that might easily help with your inquiry so I am at a loss why you don't know where to post this.

The reason I bring it up is because whenever someone posts anytihng slightly political in the Lounge, it is rapidly transferred to the Politics forum. So it seems what is good for one forum should be good for the other.

Well, I've been to both cities, and I can say they are both wonderful places to visit.

Dublin is a lot smaller but has a lot to offer. Do try and take some day trips/tours while you are in Dublin. It's a beautiful country. In Dublin, I stayed near St. Stephen's Green, a park that has a lot of townhouses, and an easy walk to other parts of town. There are a few gay bars and one bathhouse/sauna. Check out his website for more information on Gay Dublin:

Barcelona is a another story. Check out this website for all that gay Barcelona has to offer.

The only thing I would mention that dinner is eaten very, very late in Barcelona, so if you and Mom are planning on having dinner around 7 or 8PM, forget it! Try 10PM! Residents usually have a big lunch, and take a long break in mid-afternoon, and many businesses are closed from 2-5PM. I stayed on Las Ramblas which was central for my purposes.

Good luck. Enjoy the trip.
