Show of hands-- how many of you would never have thought of hiring an escort were it not for this site?

 

I asked, I'll answer first.

I never would have dreamed of it without this site. Way too leery of ads in magazines being fronts for police stings. Or that the guys looked nothing like the picture. Or that they were disease-ridden junkies. Or that I would get to their place and be pounced on by 5 guys who would rob me. Or that the guy would turn out to be more femme than Jack from Will & Grace.

But mostly, since I'm not tuned in to the "gay scene" I had no way of knowing who was good and legit and who wasn't.

And I had no idea of prices, what was expected-- all of the things I learned from this site.

My experiences with str8 hookers was always in actual whorehouses, with madams and scantily clad girls sitting around a living room. You picked the one you wanted and went back to a room with her. You usually went with a few friends and you all knew what to expect.

 

So thanks, Hoo Boy. For turning me on to a quick, no-hassle surefire way to get my rocks off with a good looking guy. Sure beats trading gifs on AOL.

I started hiring escorts long before this site was established or even before internet access was "normal" for most common people. (Hell, this was back when everyone was using DOS and before Windows was the standard operating system.)

 

Back then, all I had to rely on were the ads in magazines, newspapers, and agencies. I almost always used established agencies and had few problems.

 

After having experienced this site, however, I rarely consider hiring an escort not listed here. I've come to rely and depend on this site.

I relied on print ads by independents and agencies before this site was established. Like you, I have little contact with the "gay scene" and so had no one who could act as a "reference" for escorts, which is a useful function this site provides. I was relatively lucky with the escorts I picked before the Internet Age and this site, and I can't honestly say that the choices I've made as a result of reading the reviews here have been any better than the choices I made before. I think the real value of this site is in steering people away from escorts who are rip-off artists or have other serious problems. I was lucky enough to avoid escorts like that on my own but this site has certainly made that easier.

 

The negative reviews here are more valuable in my opinion because they provide information you aren't going to get anywhere else. No escort is going to put in his ad "Always arrives late," for example. The positive reviews are a lot like escort ads in the sense that the information they give is subjective (one person's "great looking" is another's "mediocre") and that it is important to pay attention to what is NOT said (if little or nothing is said about the escort's body, then it is probably nothing to brag about).

This site absolutely caused me to go ahead and use escorts. The positive reviews of escorts let me in on a whole world of great guys who do it for money that I never really thought existed (the bad reviews represent what I thought the whole escort world was before finding this site). And the clients' self descriptions also expanded my horizons, showing me that "johns" weren't all old, hard-bitten lechers -- there's certainly none of them on this site <heh!>;-). Also, the message board has been extremely helpful in steering me to the good guys. The wealth of information here is invaluable.

 

But the real thing that got me started on escorts was September 11. After that, I just thought "Life is too short," and jumped right in. Hey, the water's warm! I've decided not to go through life burdened with a bunch of "what if"'s and "if only"'s. This may be the beginning of my mid-life crisis, but I'm likin' it.

Prior to making regular visits to this website, I had never hired an escort. And the escorts I eventually hired were not reviewed here in advance of my hiring, so I reviewed them, and they met my needs admirably. I agree with Pickwick that much of what is in reviews tends to be subjective, due to variations in personal taste, but giving credit where credit is due, I would say my visits to this site emboldened me to finally take the plunge and hire. So Hooboy, I guess you get the credit(or blame) for inspiring me to go where I had never been before.}> :-)

I had been hiring escorts from print ads in San Francisco's B.A.R. for a little more than a year before I discovered this site. I still hire from ads, but generally look to see if the potential Mr. Right has been reviewed here. The reviews are really helpful when you travel. The first time I hired an escort I used an agency in New York and had very good luck. However, if I had had the advantage of M4M, I would never have hired the guy they sent. There was nothing wrong with him, nothing at all. He just wasn't my type, although I think that he would be the type for 90% of all men. Anyhow, it was OK, but not great.

 

Then I discovered M4M and it changed my life. Now, I don't think I would dream of hiring an escort without using this site extensively. Not only are the reviews helpful, but many guys who post here regularly are eager to give good advice. Rick Munroe even picked out an escort in L.A. for me when I couldn't figure it out for myself!

 

This is my all-time favorite site on the internet. I like it even better than eBay. And I much prefer the goods for sale on M4M to those on eBay.

Before discovering this site my experiences were mainly with street hustlers in a nearby city. After discovering this site it took me a few months of visting here regularly to pluck up the courage to contact an escort reviewed here. It was a little over a year ago and I was to be in San Diego for three nights, I decided to try two guys listed here, on two seperate nights. I love this site, but rarely read the reviews. The reviews can not

predict whether or not there will be that certain spark between you and the escort. I hired my first escort through WOW in NY. Loved the escort and the owner got to know the kind of escort I liked. Your own intuition about a particular escort that you may have heard or read about is also important (i.e. Rick Munroe). I also found Matt Adams' book to be an invaluable resource. What Adams and this site's Message Center have taught me is that escorting is a business first and last. It is unlikely that you will become friends with the escort. If you view escorting in terms of a business where both people profit, it's a lot of fun. In sum, people should relie on a number of resourses, not just this site in chosing an escort.

I hired my first escort before this site existed. However, the internet was the catalyst for me to try hiring; I never would have done it except for the anonymity of email. I chose very well for my first experience; I still see him on a regular basis. I did not always choose well in that first year or so however,probably a 70% success rate, vs more like 90% since Hooboy.

Being married, I never bought a gay magazine / newspaper, so I never had the opportunity to use the services of an escort. Like many others, the internet opened the opportunity for me to, at least in perceived anonymity, check out the escort scene. I first looked at the Atkol discussions and hired a few escorts based on what I learned there. But Hooboy’s site is without equal. I never hire an escort who has not been reviewed or discussed on this site. With discretion being my first consideration, I’m also concerned that the escort is not a rip-off artist and they look like their pictures.

 

Of course, unless I’m on travel away from DC, I haven’t used any other escorts since I discovered Zach DC.:9

Like some posters here, I started hiring escorts before internet access became widely available among the general public. I relied on print ads in gay community papers and magazines as well as agencies. While the overall experience was positive, there were some unpleasant and regrettable incidents.

 

The internet has no doubt made it easier and more convenient for me to find the escorts that I like. For those of us who travel regularly, gone are the days we scramble to locate a copy of local gay paper/magazine as soon as we arrive in a "foreign" city and then hectically try to find an escort we like. Now we can relax, pour ourselves a cup/glass of _____ (fill in the blank with your favorite drinks), sit back and relax, surf the net, find the escort(s) we like and make appointment(s). We can plan and do all these ahead of our trips, in the comfort of our own home/office.

 

Thanks to Hoo and the contributors to M4MER, I find this site has provided me lots of valuable information. I agree with Pickwick (Yes, there's nothing wrong with your eyes --- I agree with him) :o that the negative reviews can be useful. This is particularly true for "objective" information such as whether an escort has a pattern of no-shows, arriving late, lack of personal hygiene, rip-offs (e.g. take the money and run), etc. Those reviews have probably helped me avoid the bad apples among the esocrts, the majority of whom I belive to be professionals!

 

I also find the positive reviews valuable. Yes, I do recognize their "subjective" nature but like any other reviews (arts exhibition, movie, restaurant, and to a certain extent, recommendation letters), they can contain truthful information. If we don't treat them as an exact science and read them in light of their subjective nature, we can stiill find plenty useful information about an escort. Personally I have had many excellent experiences with escorts who have positive reviews on this site, and I'm confident that this will continue in the future.

 

So once again, many thanks to Hoo and all the contributors to this site! :*

I had been hiring escorts for man years prior to the start of this site. Since I tend to beleive the majority of reviews are not real I rarely use this site as a basis to select an escort to hire.

 

I look at all the first time reviewers and wonder where did they go? Why one review? Who would go through all of the screening and general process to write one review? Usually someone who has other motives.

 

Also, in all of the years I have been hring escorts I never have used an agency. I do not feel they offer any added value to an encounter. I'd rather pay the escort a bit more money than waste my cash for a introduction based on an owners suggestion who obviously has a certain interest.

 

I can honestly say there is only one reviewer who I "trust" and if the situation happens might hire based on his review or post in the message center.

 

All in all I use all tools that I beleive in and a very healthy dose of my own instinct. The Internet has made contact and visiuals far easier than the old days ... that is about it. I have had very few problems and probably have hired hunders of escorts throughout the years.

Not to repeat, but I too hired long before internet and this site.

 

That said, this site has made the entire experience easier and more interesting. Most especially for those of us who hire more overseas than in the States, it is most helpful seeing which escorts have an "international" clientel, and how people similar to me see them (and the experience).

 

I have to add that having personally begun a few threads on European cities which needed some exposure (such as the current one on Moscow, nearing 2,000 hits!!!), the contributions by others for specific areas has been of great help. Also getting information on agencies, which tend to be more reliable in some countries, has been enlightening.

 

In all, I have found that in 95% of cases, my experiences with an escort mirror those of other reviewers (and one learns to note which reviewers have similar expectations, tastes, interests and backgrounds).

I scheduled my first two appointments ever, before I knew of this site. It was in connection with a business trip to Orlando. I selected to very appealing guys from escorts4you and rentboy.

 

My life circumstances had changed in the previous couple of years and more so in the previous few months to these encounters. Not only had I not engaged escorts previously, I hadn't even participated in m4m sex except within the confines of my head. These changing life circumstances caused me to reassess my course and I decided to jump into the pool. Given my total lack of experience in this realm I considered escorts the only way in. What I lacked in knowledge, experience, youth, and beauty would be mitigated by money -- just enough of a confidence builder, barely. So I scheduled two appointments for my trip dates, roughly two weeks hence.

 

Then the anxiety and uncertainty set in over the next several days. Who were these guys? Were they legitimate or were they rip-off artists. What about my personal safety? What about the possibility of extortion attempts if they had my real identity? My imagination ran rampant based on a collections of news accounts and other sources accumulated in the back of my head over a few decades.

 

So I set out to find any information on these two guys, or escorts in general -- hoping that would lead somewhere. It didn't take too much searching to find HooBoy's site... and was I amazed when I found my two guys had reviews -- great reviews :-) !! That assuaged my serious concerns (I still had minor anxiety and sweaty hands) and the rest is history.

 

Would I have gone through with these appointments without finding the reviews at HooBoy's? I can't say for sure but I think so -- desperate men take desperate measures. In one of my early posts at this site I said that HooBoy gave sight to my eyes and hearing to my ears. Before that I was blind and deaf in the land or escorts.

 

BTW, the two escorts -- Cuba and Alec Martinez, missed Michael Vincenzo which I regret still. I flew nonstop back to Boston wearing a 'shit eating' grin the entire way. :-)

All I can say is that this site has cost me a HELL of a lot of money--and I love it!!!:-) . Before I found M4M, I never knew there were so many yummy guys out there. :9 Although I've slowed down a bit in the past couple of months, for awhile there I was definitely hiring more just because of all the opportunities that I found on this site.

 

I had hired a few times before finding HooBoy, but was always nervous about hiring a cop or getting stung in some other way. The guys I hired were all over the board, some good, some bad. But since I started using this site, the experiences have definitely skewed better. You still have an off date every now and then, but they aren't the disasters that I had experienced a few times before.

 

And the #1 best thing in my book, is that the warning review posted on one particular escort who had exhibited erratic and dangerously scary behavior allowed me to cancel an appointment I had made a week or so out. I definitely dodged a bullet on that one.
