I've posted here before, maybe a couple of years ago, about the lively scene in Madrid, but on recent visit my observation is that it's almost completely 'dried up'. Where are all the rent boys? There used to be about 3 or 4 'Casas de Chicos', and all of them seemed to require a private detective to locate, but now there seems to be only the 'Adonis' which is still waiting for the first 'Adonis' to start work there. Meanwhile, the 'A Noite' and 'Black & White' bars, so famous for their lively scene in the past, were almost empty at 1am last Saturday night. The 'Adan' sauna contained 3 miserable looking guys at 6 on Monday evening when I inspected. Anyone know what's happened? Has all the activity shifted to somewhere I don't know about?

I'm not an expert on Madrid night life, but I suppose some moved to the Internet, as a global trend.

I hired a guy from Arrowmen last year in Barcelona, (Rodrigo) who failed to perform, and I got a very shoddy response from Jose, the guy who runs Arrowmen. It's expensive for Spain, 150 euros per hour, and Jose refused to refund anything even though I sent the guy away after 20 minutes. I noticed he's no longer on their list of guys.

I think it's much nicer if you can meet the guys 'in the flesh' first, and I really enjoyed former times in the Black & White, and it's so much easier to organise than looking at websites, making appointments etc. I'd just go in there, pick some cute guy after talking to several and buying some drinks, and take him back to my hotel, 5 minutes walk away. More recently I've been in there for a couple of hours on a Saturday night, money in pocket ready to spend, and gone back to the hotel alone! Besides the two bars you mentioned, I understand that Sauna Adan has been active lately. The Internet may explain some of the "drying up." It's still a bit early for the usual summer exodus to the beaches or mountains to explain a low level of activity.

This string could have been written about West Hollywood Sunday nite. I don't know where all the hunks have gone to, but they are not in any of the places along Santa Monica Blvd.

 

It was shocking to me, since I do not speak Spanish or any Oriental one.
