I'd give it 3-4 days. It's a lovely city but it doesn't take too long to see what you need to see. I'd check out http://gayguide.net/Europe/Hungary/Budapest for a good gay guide, and the people who run this site also run a english language walking tour which I found very enjoyable. You did walk for quite a while but it was well worth it. As to escorts, I'd recommend http://www.gaytailoredtours.com which is run by an American expat named Bob. I found it as Rainbow escorts in Spartacus guide but it's clearly the same thing. The prices are almost US level so don't expect a bargain but the guys are lovely. Have a good time and be sure to review any escorts you might meet on this site.

I made the mistake of staying only in Buda and avoiding Pest because I had heard the taxi drivers liked to rip tourists off. So, I was later told I had missed the best of Budapest.

The boys along the river by the Marriott were nothing like those guys in the Bel Ami videos!:(

Bob's new page is http://www.gaybudapest.com. I've been to Budapest twice; the main cruising area is on the Pest side between the bridge and the Mariott Hotel along the river ("the Danube Cruise" it's called). There is a fantastic Thai restaurant there, get a window seat and shop while you eat. Or use Bob.

I've been to Budapest several times and enjoyed it more each time. At first, the city seemed in need of a good bath. It's not as well-scrubbed as Prague. But its charms are many and take a while to come out. If you want to do the quick tourist thing, 2-3 days will do it, but there is more if you make an effort. Make sure to catch a performance at the Opera House, which is spectacular (the building, not necessarily the music).

The sex can be found on the Danube Corso or in the bath houses. The Corso, on the river near the Marriott, is iffy. My first few trips to Bp., I saw no activity there, but this last time, I met a total sweetheart. More about that later.

The Bp. bathhouses are unlike anything I've seen and must be sampled generously. There are two kinds. The Gellert Hotel and the big bath in the city park are opulent, turn of the century palaces. The Gellert is kind of gay at certain hours. The other kind are the centuries-old Ottoman baths. They're kind of grotty, but very atmospheric. Though they are public baths, two of them, the Kiraly and the Rac, are entirely gay, with much action going on everywhere. Many Romanian rent boys hang out there, though few are very cute. However, they are all very amusing, flirty, almost sweet. I usually end up just flirting with them and groping them under the water without doing more. Beware, underwater groping seems to be rampant in these places, and you may be a gropee! The waters in these baths are natural thermal mineral water, so it smells, and you don't want to think about what's in the water. All I know is there hasn't been any outbreak of diseases from them, so try to enjoy.

During my last trip, two years ago, I was walking down the Corso when this boy with a mischievous look leaned quickly toward me as he passed and muttered something apparently lascivious. Whereupon he profusely apologized because he honestly thought I was someone else, probably a past trick. I wasn't sure exactly what was going on, but since he was adorable-looking, I told him to hang out with me. He was an absolutely gentle and polite boy, with big brown eyes and a somewhat Mediterranean look. I bought him dinner, and he seemed a little embarrassed by it. I took him back to my hotel. The boy, straight, did not like to kiss, but he had a huge cock, so I found other oral distractions. He let me cum on his belly. The kind of rent boy you want to introduce to your mother.

The going rate for boys at the above locations is 5000 forints (about $20). On my first trip to Bp., I went to a place called No Limit, where I fucked one of the primest asses in my life for $120. No Limit seems to be closed. Luckily, I found other sources.

Thanks Dewey, this is just the kind on info I need. But tell me are there any "houses of boys" or strip clubs in Budapest?

I will have about 3 or 4 days, and will be looking for some ripped muscle but not big BBs. Most of the guys I have found on websites are rather boyish, which is not my style.

I am also thinking of going to Berlin for 2 days. Any advice appreciated unless there is another nearby city worth going to.

Interesting stuff on gaytailoredtours. Does anyone have info on what they generally charge? Are the rates more like E.Eur./Latin America or like W.Eur./US? Must say, it's nice to see faces and bodies I recognize from a thousand masturbatory sessions on their website!

Just to add my "two cents".......

I was in Budapest this past September for almost two weeks. I had visited there before for just a few days, and wanted to take in more of the city. Yes - one can see the major city sights in a matter of 3 - 4 days, but to really appreciate and understand Budapest, I thought it best to spend a longer time.

I concur with the previous posts on some of the "must-see" sights -

The Opera House on Andrassy Ut is incredible - a beautiful, grand European Opera House with some great performances. Even if opera is not your thing (I happen to enjoy it) it is worth attending a performance just to admire the building and design. Prices are great by Western standards - app. $15 - 30 for a performance.

Also - the thermal baths are something, and a major part of the Hungarian culture. I visited the Gellert Bath last year - was planning on visiting again, but their was an explosion from one of the pipes, which closed the baths and hotel for an indefinite time period. (Luckily - no one was injured!) If it is re-opened on your visit, definitely take a look. This year, I visited other baths - the Rudas and Kiraly are atmospheric Turkish era baths - app. 500 years old and still operating. Prices are very reasonable (1200 forints = $4 - $5) and the waters are very soothing.

Great restaurants in Budapest - from goulash (of course!) to all sorts of cuisine. Once again - although the dollar is falling against the Hungarian forint, prices are still VERY reasonable vs. US or Western Europe prices.

Buda is very attractive - very romantic and quiet at night. Take a stroll anytime after sunset through midnight (when they turn the lights out on the castle, bridge, etc.) Most of the tourists are gone by then, and you can really enjoy the feeling of Buda.

The Pest side is definitely more active - most restaurants, clubs, action, etc. is on the Pest side. Budapest is an imperial city, so is very grand - however, small enough to understand easily and get around. A great metro system, although I walked most of the time I was there.

I utilzed gaytailoredtours.com for three escorts - my review on Attila was published a few weeks ago. I also submitted a review on another escort last week, which I am still waiting to be published, and then will submit my third review. As stated in an earlier post, gaytailoredtours is run by an expat named Bob - a very helpful and friendly guy. As stated, prices are not necessarily inexpensive, but not overpriced either, and you get what you pay for. I have been more than satisfied with the escorts I have hired through Bob.

Although I have arranged my own travel, Bob can also assist in travel arrangements, etc.

Hope you enjoy Budapest as much as I do - it is really an incredible city! Let me know, if I can answer anything else!

I am just back and what a city! I found the park next to the Marriott to be very busy, even in chilly November. Some of the boys are very direct, others rather standoffish. Of course, the one I liked was distant and did not approach me. But once we did connect, it was easy even with his limited english. I shall place a review of this tall dark and handsome guy. Cost 100Euro.

The other thing I noticed were the tremendous number of female's available. While walking on the pedestrian streets I was approached about 50 times, which got very annoyning! The guys are far more reserved and there are far fewer of them. Pity. All are at the park to the south of the Marriott which is near most of the larger western hotels, eg Hyatt, Intercontinental, etc.

Johnny:

Welcome back from Budapest!

I stayed at the Marriott, so am familiar with the park. Was approached several times - day or night, when walking along the Danube by the park. Did not take advantage of any of the offers,as I already had arrangements for escorts prior to the trip.

And yes - was approached by females on the street all the time, asking me if I wanted sex - just said no - and kept walking.

Interesting city with interesting people!.....B T
