Making Travel Plans

Hey guys!

 

I have a bit of a break in my school schedule and i have been thinking about taking a trip sometime in the next few months and i wanted to get some input on ideas for destinations and dates.

 

A friend of mine mentioned meeting up for IML in Chicago later this month, which is part of what triggered the thought of a trip, but i figured i'd get some input from all of you. (Chicago and Austin are both hovering somewhere in there but i'm open to other ideas....)

Ummm... that would be NEXT month. It's always Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend in May.

 

It's generally a good time to be in Chicago although it can be unseasonably chilly when it comes early, and it can also have you sweating like hell in your leather.

 

The only hesitation, if you're hoping for work, is the town will be filled with IML revellers AND pornstars in town for Gay Chicago Magazine's Grabby Awards.

 

The town can be AWASH with hot guys on offer. But if you just want to go and be a slut, that's always fun too. ;-)

I have to second what Deej said about Chicago and add that finding a hotel might be a bit pricey unless you try the Price Line route. If you decide on Chicago though check to see what conventions are going on besides IML and if there are baseball games going on also. Chicago is a huge convention city with enough people coming in to be considered a small city at times. I'd suggest Maybe Los Angeles or the SoCal area as another option and possibly Vegas if nothing else in Vegas hotels can often be found for a steal.

My advice is to hit Austin. Ricardo Milos ( http://www.ricardomilos.net ) mentions in his FAQ's that "Austin is one of America's the best kept secrets" It's young, energetic, friendly, and damn beautiful. Also very liberal with a lively yet unpretentious gay scene. The city is well known for it's Labor Day and Memorial Day festivities - when all the guys head to Lake Travis' gay Hippy Hollow. Here you will find yachts and speed boats anchored down with plenty of hot guys. Nudity is also allowed year round at Hippy Hollow.
