I certainly concur with Lucky that an escort has the right to charge whatever the traffic will bear. What will be interesting to observe, in the future, is what happens to escort rates as the national economy continues to head south. With the rapid increases in food and fuel prices discretionary income is shrinking and escorts are most definitely not a necessity of life.

 

I also agree with J.T. that $300 for approximately 35 minutes of actual sex is, in my book, at least, ridiculous. Can I afford to spend that amount, now and then? Certainly! The question is am I willing to do so and the answer is definitely NO. There is still a goodly number of outstanding escorts out there with reasonable rates and they are the guys I will continue to patronize. Sure the Lopez kid is cute and he has a great body but oh well my life will go on if I don’t get to spend time with him.

It would appear that $300 is becoming a benchmark, if it is not already. This is why I am always pushing for reviews with "details".

 

Though he is new, there have some reviews of Andy (MER and in their message board) that have had sufficient enough detail to at least let you know that he won't be a "$300 layback and get serviced" kind of guy.

 

After some heavy research putting the pieces together (LOL) he seems to work well with older guys :-).

The sad part is that as the economy heads FURTHER south it may have little of no effect on the escort's (these new $300 types) income. Most of the $300 guys can see 3 guys a week in any major city and tax free it's $45K a year.

 

If they were $200 they may not get any more bites or they would have to see more clients to make the same money. I am sure there is a point of deminishing return.

One things for sure, at $450/hr for a threeway (with me) it's unfortunate but my travel companion and I didn't to meet him.

 

From an escort's point of view he just really needs to get his feet wet. He would have gotten a two hour threeway, an escort's holy grail of "hourlies," but probably doesn't really understand how everything works quite yet.

In my neck of the woods you could get 2 hours of therapy for that price and it would probably be more stimulating.

 

I'm not paying $300 an hour. $200-250 with a discount for multiple hours is as far as I go. Heck, I hired one $300 an hour guy once. He was a dud. I've found guys on Craig's List who charged $200 for 3 hours and were hotter and better lovers than almost any "well known escort" one finds around these parts.

Yes, this price is unfortunate, especially for a newcomer. But I agree with those who point out that this is a marketplace, where prices are set by supply and demand. If there is enough demand at $300, then some will set their price that high. And even higher, as I see some rentboy.com listings for NYC at $350 or even higher.

 

Luckily, here in NYC there are many gorgeous and classy guys who are charging $200, $225 or $250, and some of the traveling escorts who stop here also charge in this more reasonable range. But then again NYC is probably the largest escort market in the nation, so there is some real price competition here... and I wonder how long somebody can attract sufficient clients at $300 or more and make a go of it, if this is their main source of income?

 

I had an escort friend who started in the $200s range, then developed other interests and sources of income and decided he wanted only to escort occasionally for very special well-heeled clients, so raised his hourly fee far above the norm for this area. He continued to get occasional clients, about the number he liked to supplement his other income, and really preferred overnights and client trips, which were much more lucrative overall, even if the hourly rate worked out to be much less. So, it all has to do with the marketplace and the escort's financial situation and preferences for how often to work.

The Competiton in NYC for "New Meat" is pretty heavy. I'm guessing with Higher Rates, THEY figure it will make up for the lack of needed Cash? But even going from $200 to $250 to even $300 still cuts down on the amount of Contacts they will get.

 

"Regular's" at $300 an Hour I doubt it very much! IMHO of course.. ;-)
