I'll write an actual review when I get home, but I wanted to send out a warning about taste of sin city" (rentboy) aka vegasboi99 (M4RN), who advertises in Chicago:

He showed up--wasn't the guy in the add, demanded $ upfront and split. I called rentboy and they said "write a review on rentboy or DR, this is a pay site". Their process for doing this is cumbersome, but I did it anyway. And here I am on DR. I would have reviewed him on M4RN but they provide the reviewer's email to the escort.

 

I should've acted differently when I saw him at the door and feel foolish. In retrospect the ad had some inconsistencies, but not red flags. At least others can be spared the problem.

 

I think there was a similar scam mentioned here a couple months ago.

I would agree. I too was taken although he was very sloppy about the meeting. I agree on picture not matching, though there was enough similarity and the angle of the face shot made it hard to detect.

Glad this was helpful. My last review took a little over a month to get online and that's probably long enough for the scam to run its course and the guys to be gone. At this point, I should know better, but when you're traveling, it's easy for your guard to be down just enough.....

 

I was annoyed with Rentboy's attitude--I think they were more concerned about integrity in the past. I think Brandon Baker answered the phone. His flakiness as a business person has been noted in the past here.

 

M4RN's willingness to make reviewers' emails available to advertisers is a real negative. It may eliminate highly personalized 1-star reviews, but it guarantees that the stars have no credibility, unless someone is willing to risk being a spam or other target for an unhappy escort.

On my July trip I did something I never did before, and hired a guy that was not reviewed here on the DR off of the M4RN site. I insisted that we meet at a bar near my hotel before hand, and he agreed. Made me comfortable in continuing.

 

Your tale does hit home to the caution about paying up front or leaving money where it can be seen. Especially if they are not reviewed here on the DR (at least for myself).

Yes, but remember that less than 10% of visitors to Daddy's Reviews visit the message center.

 

To get the most impact, you really need to submit a review. Until you do that, your story is just unsubstantiated gossip on a a little-traveled message board.

And if the guy vanishes in a week or two, will the review get published (if, the escort cannot be reached)? These scams normally run their course in a time period that reviews often can't cover, and this isn't quite like "gossiping" about someone with a name and a real presence.

I had called Ace and a Few other Escorts with No Response

Looking at the profile of subject escort(?) on M4R, I see on the review section that he is "reviewed". He was graded tops in all respects which is an indication of how useful (or useless) that rating system is.
