My friend and I escort. I say never accept an appointment at a lesser fee even it is planned to be shorter than an hour. My friend doesn't agree and takes $50-75 off his fee when the client is close-by and he thinks it might be a one time thing. Most of his clients are from AOL and they say $175 is too high so he asks what can they offer and he gets $100-125 instead usually for an hour of the same activity. He said he would rather earn a bit than none at all.

I understand negotiating when an evening or overnite is involved, but what do you see as the pros and cons of an escort adjusting their fee when requested?

It sounds like his "normal" fee is $100-125 if that's what most of his clients pay him.

It depends upon how late his rent is.

Speculatively yours,

NEVER!

If you're good enough to escort then you should not discount. People won't respect you for it.

However, if you're not getting much business then maybe your rates are too high for your area. I'd say always charge your stated rate and if the rate is too high, then lower your rate. Don't discount.

LOL.. you're in DC right?

i charge $225 an hour, and i think talvin charges more than that.

my fee is up-to and including an hour.

i think your friend is silly to do what he does, but as long as he's happy with what he makes, good for him.

I have no problem with a client asking for a lower rate. In my area I will only pay up to $200. A couple of times an escort quoted me a rate of $250 and I politley thanked them and said "Sory that is too much I only pay as much as $200." A couple said that would be OK a couple said good bye, but in both cases the conversations were polite.

An escort is in buisness and is going to charge what they can get, as a client I just don't have to pay it nor is ther a need to be rude about it on eithe rside.

I don't. I had a guy call last night who I'd apparently seen a couple of times in the past two years. His exact words, " I think

I've seen you a couple times, are you still in business?" I said

yes and he wanted to know my availability...said he'd have to go to the ATM. Then he asked me what my rates were now. I told him

$120/incall $140/outcall...he said, "Oh, your rates went up, I

only have $100. Well, I said thanks for calling, but my rates are

as stated and to give me a call when he has the correct amount.

I think my rates are quite reasonable, particularly compared to NYC, LA and DC(where some escort rates are a bit high). I've raised my rates 3 times in 10 years. If I was working in NYC, I could be charging $200+, but I live in a medium-sized city where

the cost of living is fairly reasonable.

Plus, you must be careful when discussing money...could be the cops.

in fairness to myself, EVERYTHING is expensive in DC.

>what do you see as the pros and cons of an escort adjusting

>their fee when requested?

Pros:

1. Get more business.

2. Establish a client base.

3. Profit from volume.

Cons:

1. Attract "less desirable" clients. (Do you want a client that doesn't appreciate your value?)

2. You send a tacit message that what you say is not what you mean. (If you negotiate on price then you imply your other "boundaries" can be crossed. Clients will "assume" they can take advantage of you such as fucking, bareback, etc.)

My recommendation is to set your hourly price and KEEP your hourly price. Don't send mixed messages.

DC...my comments re: rates weren't necessarily directed at you.

I decide what my time is worth, not the client. I've also had clients ask if I do 1/2hr appts. and I always say yes, but the

rates are still the same.

But, there are some escorts in larger cities who seem to think that just because everyone else is charging $200+, that they should also.
