Mr. Benjamin Nicholas has been too much discussed already. Nonetheless, this from his latest blog, Oct. 7, 2005:

 

"Whispers i'm hearing this week run the gamut... From well-known escorts recently finding out a less-than-negative HIV status to 15 Minutes scooping Filth2Go about Kathy Griffin's alleged seperation from hubby...

 

"A former high-profile escort couple, now coupled with the frightening fact that they are HIV+ was the terrible news that hit my inbox yesterday. While i wish them only the best in this really tough time, i will say that letting their clients know ahead of time might the professional and sane thing to do. Only time will tell..."

 

If he somehow verified this and felt compelled to make a public service announcement, I don’t think this entry cuts it. If he didn't verify it -- in fact even if he did -- his blithe unconcern about damaging others' livelihood is striking.

 

I commit the sin of repeating this gossip to note in how many ways it is beyond the pale. The hypocritical sympathy. The breach of confidence (yes, let’s rehash that one). The exploitation of presumed tragedy to spice a blog and drive readership.

 

Truly unbelievable.
