Not yet. Some traveling would be involved, so it's a way off, but we're both interested and hopefully arranging something in the not-too-distant future. Probably December or January if it happens. (I've talked to him a few times now, though, and he seems very nice and for real, so I'm hopeful it'll work out. In most cases, I would agree, but it wasn't a large amount and sounded reasonable given he's traveling to me, etc. (he explained it as mainly a precaution against no-shows, which I could understand).

 

If an escort asked for half his rate up front or something for no good reason, that would be a different story and I wouldn't bite.

 

I dunno. Always the chance that my judgment is off and I'll get burned, but I'm feeling good about this and feel he's for real.

 

(On another note, my e-stim equipment has been with a friend who wanted to borrow it for like...3 months! LOL. Hopefully I'll get that back someday!)

Why can you understand that? I can't. Ponying up a nonrefundable airfare is not some precaution against a no-show but offering up a cash pittance ("it wasn't a large amount") is?

Presumably everyone that has gotten taken by an escort or agency scam has felt 'good enough' to go through with it.

 

You may not get burned here. But eventually you will and that will be based on the rationale that 'I feel good about this and I did it before and it all worked out' and ' well this is only a little more up front $s that last time i did it'. You are setting up a personal policy in this... one that goes against all advice on this board and against HooBoy's posted warning.

 

Sean, you are setting yourself up as a victim, if not now then later. And I think you are uneasy about that. My guess as to why you mentioned it here, looking for some support. Sorry I cannot offer it.

Actually, not looking for support at all and I'm not sure why you got that idea - I made a decision that I'll live with, and hopefully it'll turn out to be an okay one. In fact, I quite regret mentioning the advance factor now (I really didn't see all this coming). LOL. I just thought I'd mention how things went so far so people could decide if they wish to try contacting him - I know some people here never send any type of advance at all. I'm not particularly worried about it, though. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I felt comfortable enough after talking with him that it was worth it to me to try it, and hopefully, all will turn out well. When I've been burned before, there were warning signs that I just don't see in this case.

 

I also should note some very well-known and well-reviewed escorts require, in addition to transportation costs, part of their fee up front. It's safer in this case because they are reviewed, but even then, there can be some surprises. (I actually got scammed by someone here with mostly favorable reviews who I trusted more based on those.)

 

If I'm not comfortable with something, I won't do it, and if I find I need to change my policies some more in the future, I will.
