Barry: thanks for info. u clearly have a better grasp of the science concerning seroconversion.

my point--and i think TY acknowledges it in a subsequent post--is that the term seroconvresion as used by scientists does not try to mask the seriousness of the HIV/AIDS virus and modes of transmission.

i think we're all in agreement here.

I'm coming out of the i-screwed-up closet. on re-reading this thread, seroconversion has a very definite scientific meaning to which i did not allude in earlier posts. seroconversion is a term used only within the framework of TESTING AND SUBSEQUENT RE-TESTING OF THE SAME SUBJECT for the HIV/AIDS virus (for purposes of our discussion; people with other diseases can also seroconvert). if it could be established that there were no additional risk factors for acquiring HIV (for instance, if a subject were to be hospitalized, incapacitated, and unable to engage in risky behavior), then the HIV virus can be considered to have mutated. this has happened in a small percentage of HIV+ cases. a significant complication concerning seroconversion is that self-reporting about sexual behavior and drug use is notoriously unreliable.

engaging in risky behavior and getting HIV/AIDS is obviously a different matter.

jizz,

Let me apologize for my somewhat strident tone in some of my posts here. I really have no big crusade against swallowing... as I said "knowedgeable consenting adults...". The original issue was is oral sex with ejaculation risky? And the truth seems to be that it is much less risky than unprotected anal sex and much more so than oral sex without ejaculation. And there are documented cases of infection, including celebrities.

I guess I have had a bug up my ass for some time regarding the 'seroconversion' word. Seeing it for sometme everywhere: here, other web sites, and local gay papers just struck me that people were buying in to the apparent new euphism for infection that just seems much to 'antiseptic' for my taste given the seriousness of the topic. I finally just had to unload this practice and it happened on your thread. Sorry. :-)

porn

I don't swallow but I fuckin' love to see someone else do it, which is why I find straight porn so hot. Those bitches always take the loads! I know there are lots of guys who swallow out there but we never see it on film unless it's pre-AIDS. I guess the gay porn industry feels it has a responsibility to set an example but not so for the "other side"...even tho HIV infections are steadily increasing for hetero women.

RE: porn

True about porn. Also, think in gay porn they always show the "money shot".

Dont model and/or producers of straight porn worry about hiv? I have seen many, and unprotected fucking and swallowing cum seems to be the norm.

In my personal life, however, I am amazed at the number of guys that do take a load in their mouth and swallow. I try to warn and hold back...but many insist... Guess was good for me that I never liked the taste or consistancy, so I never swallow.

Backing up to Bilbo's comment in response #2: Is anyone aware of the safety of taking semen on your own cock? If viral concentrations are relatively high in semen, and if the penis is a mucous membrane, then this activity would seem to be moderate-risk at least. But -- this is my own logic, and I've never seen any information on the subject. Comments?
