My gay friends in Florida tell me that much of the gay crowd is leaving Key West (touristy and dead end) for Fort Lauderdale.

 

Maybe that is where you should bake.

I was there recently and thought I was in very straight town...gaybars were dead, the one gay "club" was dead, the cruising was non existent...just a shell of it's former glory. I was so glad to get home and see some gay guys!! I am fortunate enough to live in Ft. Lauderdale. :7

I am surprised by these responses. At least two of my regulars flew South for the Winter in Key West. Both claimed that they would not escort while there because the community is too small and so privacy issues would arise. I must say it has been slim pickings in NYC this Fall so I have been tempted by Key West.

"Slim pickings" in NYC? You've got to be kidding! I know of no other city in the world where the choice of escorts is better. As for Key West, it's moment in the sun for gays was in the late 1970's and 80's, unfortunately I missed it but friends assure me it was a blast back then. Then the straight tourists started their invasion and by the mid-nineties when I showed up the scene was definitely in decline. AIDs also had a huge impact on the local gay community. The last time I was there a couple years ago the scene was absolutely on life support, but the sailing was great if you're into that. Ft Lauderdale is definitely the gay spot in South Florida now and even South Beach has had its day although vestiges remain.:-)

I have not seen much on Rentboy, Campus or Chelsea that I have not already had or that interested me this Fall. Having sung the praises of NYC for several years now, I think if one is looking for smooth twinks who bottom, I am now more of an advocate of Amsterdam and London. Here again though, I define an escort as one who is available on-line with a picture. Anything short of that is a hustler to me. That distinction seems to be the source of some of the varying ratings for cities ranked on this Board.

Well, we were talking apples and oranges it would seem, since my interest is only in escorts who are tops or versatile tops period. Smooth twink bottoms don't do it for me but I can appreciate your tastes and would not be able to comment on how NYC stacks up in that regard. I have been struck at how many twinks are available in Amsterdam, a city I love. But then, I've always done quite well in the bars there where mature men seem to be appreciated. Ditto Paris.(smile).
