Just found out I'm going to Washington, DC for a week at the end of August. The last time I was in DC was 1977.

I will probably be tied up (not literally) during the week. But, I plan to take a couple of vacation days to stay over and see the sights.

What are some of the "must see" things when visiting DC? Would you recommend a self-guided tour or something like Grayline Tours?

Would also like to hire while I'm there and would really welcome suggestions. I was very impressed with Travelin' Man's review today of Tim2 but it was Mr. Tim2's first review. Travelin' Man has numerous reviews to his credit and seems like a trusted reviewer. Plus, we seem to share similar tastes. :9

I'm looking for someone that is versatile and am NOT interested in being topped. I really like the young bodies but they have a tendancy to be "flaky". I want someone reliable because I hate "no shows". (The only person I would not consider is a rather notorious poster on this site who used to irritate the hell out of me.)

Would also be interested in advise on reliable agencies in the area. I will probably be staying in Maryland (not my choice) without a car so they must be willing to meet at my hotel. BTW, I'm old, fat, and balding but very clean and nice. My age and physical condition (or lack of it) would have to be acceptable to the potential escort.

Really appreciate your feedback and assistance.

Although the past few summers have been mild, this summer Washington is back to normal - hot and humid. It's been miserable. But the good thing about August is that it is much easier to get into the popular restaurants as many of the locals have cleared out of town, including the Congressional blowhards.

The best escort agencies are probably http://www.tops69.com and http://www.dcboys.com. Tops seems to have much less of a turnover of escorts than DC Boys. Many Washington escorts have received fairly good reviews on this site- I recommend that you check them out. A hotel in the suburbs should not be a problem, although some agencies add a surcharge of about $20. Age and physical condition should also not be a problem. The local gay rag is http://www.washingtonblade.com. Escort ads are in the on-line classified section.

Washington has changed ALOT since 1977. The Metro can take you virtually anywhere and is a tourist attraction in itself. The most popular places to visit are the Vietnam Wall (very close to the Lincoln Memorial) and the National Air and Space Museum. Union Station was restored several years ago and is also very popular. I haven't been to Georgetown in awhile, but I know that tourists love it, as they do Old Town Alexandria. The Friday weekend section of the Washington Post will clue you into what's going on - special museum exhibits, concerts, plays, etc. You can check out the current weekend section at http://www.washingtonpost.com - it will help you plan. The Post's website also has a very good visitor's guide. The gay area has expanded far beyond Dupont Circle, but is still the home to Lambda Rising, one of the country's best gay bookstores.

A couple of days is not very long to visit Washington. You will have no problem finding things to see and do. Have a great trip!

I highly recommend Sean #4. The last review published for him was mine, and he's a decent and funny guy with a great body and skills, and also isn't into anal.

Wow!! This is exactly the kind of info I needed. Thank you so much for the links.

Now, to start putting things into a priority list. You're right, two days won't be enough. Hopefully I get a chance in the evenings to do a few things and save the "special events" for those days after the co-workers depart. }>

I'm definately adding Sean #4 to my list of potential guys. All his reviews, including yours, are very positive and I appreciate that they all aren't from "first timers". He sounds like a quality guy!

Although I don't want to be fucked, I am wondering about his "no anal" restrictions and the "oral only" comments. Does that mean touching and playing with his ass is off limits? Is rimming considered anal or oral?

I certainly respect someone not wanting penetration because that's exactly where I'm at. But, I do have a thing for some light ass play. :9

I can't resist putting in a plug for my profession: The National Gallery of Art has one of the greatest collections of paintings anywhere in the world. It also has the distinction of being open on Mondays (probably no other public museum in the world is open on Mondays) and it is absolutely free because it belongs to the citizens of the United States. It'd be a shame to miss it.

Use to live in DC and left there in the 80s. Recently went back for a weekend spent at the Kennedy Center seeing the Sondheim festival. The city is wonderful (except for the summer heat and humidity). The escorts you could consider are: Chris (young and has wnderful reviews)...Richard in Balt/DC...appears to be very professional and also has great reviews. Another in same line as Richard is Buck, also in Balt/DC....read their reviews. Talvin Demachio is from there. Stay away from Vince Texeira( I have no personal experience but I understand he has alot of attitude and is very expensive).

I would defenitely get a massage from Adam (very well reviewed here). I can't wait to revisit him.

Would suggest a grey line tour for highlights and then return to the places you like for more indepth visits.

Most DC museums, including the Smithsonian museums and the National Gallery of Art, are open every day but Christmas. The Phillips Collection (Dupont Circle area) IS closed on Mondays.

Big attractions of the moment:

for the true queen, "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years" at the Corcoran Gallery of Art (very close to the White House, Farragut West Metro station) - cost: a bit pricey at $10-$14;

"The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt" at the National Gallery of Art (Archives/Navy Memorial Metro station)- cost: free;

The International Spy Museum - this privately-owned museum cost $40 million and is currently THE hot ticket, particularly since it just opened a couple weeks ago. Across F Street from the National Portrait Gallery, which is currently closed while it is under renovation (Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro station) - cost: $11.

Re: Sean #4 and anal...

I'm not sure - sorry I can't help you there. We didn't go there. If I were you, I'd e-mail him. I always got prompt, friendly responses from him via e-mail.

Best of luck!

Hey OneFinger,

I definitely recomend checking out the Smithsonian Museums on the Mall. Especially the Hirshhorn Museum. The best part is that they are all very well air conditioned! :D Of course, after you have checked out all of the sites down on the mall, you can stop by my place and check out my sites! :p Be sure to read my reviews and see if you might be interested in a meeting (or 2 or 3.....) while you are in the area. I am sure we could have a lot of fun together! }> Feel free to write me an email or give me a call if you have any other questions. Regardless of what you do, I hope you have a great trip!

I have been a DC resident for 14 years and this just decided to stay home for vacation. It was great. Saw Treasures of Ancient Egypt and thought it was very good. Was expecting it to be more extensive but the highlight to me was a replica of an actual tomb.

Tried to get into Spy Museum but the lines were very long outside and did not want to wait an hour or more to get in. Will see this later when the crowds die down. Have a friend that is working there and he said the response was much more than they expected.

Also suggest you try to see the Korean War Memorial, its one of the ones off the beaten path and rather surprising. Its a platoon of soldiers moving up a slope. If you can, check this out at night it has an almost spupernatural glow.

You could also stop by your congressional office for a private tour of the Capitol Building. You should call them first to make an appointment. Tours have been resumed but on a limited scale. No one is allowed in the House and Senate chambers but its still a good tour.

There is so much to see its impossible to cover it all. Hope you have a great time. And please submit a reveiw of whoever you hire.

Hey Guys,

Can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your suggestions. I think I'm going to have a wonderful time in the DC area.

Just found out that the trip is NEXT WEEK (not the end of the month). Your quick and detailed responses have been a great help!

I've gone through your many recommendations on escorts and will be contacting a couple of guys tomorrow or the next day to try and finalize an appointment.

Wish I had more advance warning because the idea of a "special" tour of the Capital would be great. Previously (1977) saw the White House on a tour and that was an awesome experience.

The generic White House tour is really not worth the time and effort. You wait around for a couple of hours to be hustled past a few rooms and then you're out the door. A few years ago I had a friend working on detail in the Old Executive Office Building; employees were permitted to give personal tours of the White House if the First Family was out of town. We spent about an hour wandering around the West Wing, got to pet Socks (coming in from his walkies), and saw George Stephanopolous (sp?) climbing into his beat-up Honda CRX. Truth be told, the White House is much more impressive looking outside of the fence than inside - you don't see all those dumpsters sitting in the "moat" that runs under the north portico.

With only a couple of days to look around, for at least one of those days just plonk yourself down on the Mall and pick and choose from the museums. The Freer Gallery (Asian art) has always been one of my favorites and is one of the least visited of the mall museums.

Well, I wouldn't worry about the White House tours. For the most part, post- September 11, they have been cancelled. School groups with lots of advance planning are still allowed, but I think you can just forget about getting on the grounds anymore without special permission. and lots of advnace planning.

Congress has resumed its tours. A favorite place of mine to see is the main building of the Library of Congress. It is far less crowded than many other attractions, the exhibits are usually really good and the main reading room is stunning. I can never remember which building it is (Jefferson, Madison?), but it's the one right next door to the Supreme Court, which is also kind of a nifty tour, but I don't know what their tourist schedule is all about.

If you want to get out of the Mall area for a bit, head on over to the National Cathedral at the intersection of Wisonsin and Massachusetts Avenue. Beautiful tour, always cool and comfortable. Built in the style and manner of a gothic cathedral, conerstone laid by Woodrow Wilson, only recently completed. Great stained glass. A friend who volunteers there told me tourism has picked up there since it was featured in a West Wing episode this season.

Throughout your visit, be prepared to walk through plenty of metal scanners and having your camera or packages hand-inspected, stay cool, wear very comfortable shoes and enjoy it.
