Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? A couple of weeks ago there was a "bad" review for Derek #2/NYC and the reviewer slammed him for poor hygiene. At the time, I averred that his acne was probably the result of steroids and not the lack of bathing.

 

This morning, Derek #2 responded to the reviewer and I'll paste the relevant section for everyone:

 

"What can I say, I'm human and do have an occasional bout with acne but it's not do to poor hygiene but elevated Testosterone"

 

For those of you who don't know, when gym bunnies take steroids (or one of its cousins) it elevates the body's natural testosterone. So, not unlike a chunky person who doesn't want to say he is fat, young Derek #2 doesn't want to say he's on steroids but rather his testosterone level is "elevated".

 

I love it when I'm right. :-)

As we go down memory lane, also mentioned in that thread was the fact that acnes are common even after adolescence. Derek's statement is not an admission that he is taking oral or injectable androgenic hormone. I am taking it from the context of a lay male person (Derek) assuming that his acnes and testosterone are have exclusive cause-sole effect relationship, for afterall as a male he has more testosterone than estrogen. Likewise, it is an incorrect assumption that those who don't have acnes have extra estrogen in them. Jesus Christ, why do we have to persecute that person.

Ooops, time to take care of that single zit in my right cheek.

I give you credit for reading what was written, accepting it at face value, and not interpreting it further. That is a rare and commendable quality. Many people often choose to interpret words in self-serving way, often distorting the original message in it's literal form.

My words were not directed at FFF. It is human nature for all of us to read and hear things in ways that we are most comfortable with, and sometimes those comfortable ways are self serving. I am trying to keep my comments directed issues, not individuals. There are exceptions for sure, as when I directly complimented the writer that I originally responded to here.

FFF's thread contents are surely interesting and oftentimes funny. But the titles -- is it just stylistic uniqueness?

I never said that Derek was a naughty boy in need of a spanking because he takes steroids. What I originally said was that my suspicion was that his acne was not caused by poor hygiene but rather steroids based on his body and how most of the gym bunnies in NYC are on something. Then lo and behold he says he his testosterone levels are elevated.

 

For you "lay" people out there, steroids raise your testosterone levels and that results in acne. Is it possible that his acne is caused by something unrelated to steroids? Sure. But it's not very likely.

 

I have to go, the Klingons are here and they want to talk peace.
