TxMaxx Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Hey guys, a newbie here, posting my first topic. For privacy reasons, I'm looking for ways to spoof my phone location while I'm out and about. I have an iPhone. Any apps or methods you use other than setting your location using another device or stop sharing your location? I've used both until now, but that won't fly anymore.
maninsoma Posted September 16 Posted September 16 There are instructions here for both Android and iPhones. + azdr0710 1
TonyDown Posted September 17 Posted September 17 When not using your phone, you could keep it inside a metalized enclosure (Faraday cage). But if a mobile account needs to use their phone, wouldn't the cell tower data always show the approximate location? Ronan Farrow did a piece on mobile phone surveillance, that was worrisome. It's worth listening too, yet if some nefarious entity wants to track you, such as Pal!nt!r, there may not be much you can do, since there is little regulation covering surveillance. One recommendation is to restart your phone everyday. See Farrow's piece. TxMaxx and marylander1940 2

I tried both options suggested for iPhone -- none of them work. My guess is they may work with older versions of iOS but not with the most recent ones.

Yes, one thing I have learned from watching Forensic Files is that investigators can determine a suspect's location based on cell tower data. Even if you are spoofing your location data, if you connect to a tower because you used your phone there's no way to fake that. Seems like the easiest solution is just to leave one's phone off unless you need to use it. TxMaxx 1
