I accompanied a friend today that recommended visiting The Huntington to see  Don Bachardy: A Life in Portraits.

Glad I went!  An amazing volume of work over the decades.  The exhibition runs to early August.

Visit www.huntington.org for more information.

Have every intention of getting out there before it ends.  Such a beautiful, talented man.  I hate his paintings and love his drawings.  I've told the story here before, when I was young I had the opportunity to be painted by him in his beautiful famous Santa Monica Home, and I turned it down because the idea of sitting and not talking for 8 hours, not being able to talk to such an interesting man, turned me off.  Idiot.  We could have and would have talked before and after, and maybe for years afterward.  So so so stupid of me.  Oh well.

I don't see him on his bike in WeHo anymore, so I'm guessing he's more sedentary now in his '90s than he was in his '80s.  I hope he's well.

Good for you, I'm sure it's wonderful, I look forward to seeing it.

@Rod Hagen How interesting you crossed paths with his world!  That would have been quite something to be painted by Bachardy.

He still lives and works in that same house in Santa Monica.

When you go to the show, I recommend watching the short film about is life, before leaving.

This video, below, shows him attending the opening.
