You've got it bass-ackwards.  She beats him into a coma & gets arrested (freeing her to step into her upcoming Broadway gig), and he awakens with one of those conditions in which a patient suddenly has an accent or speaking another language.  

And Langdon can use the commotion surrounding Santos' arrest to steal some drugs if they really want to pump up the drama.
