It's on Hulu. Based on a true story that I never knew about. It's an interesting story and these two actors are wonderful together. It has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. I enjoyed it.

Which Duke is it about?  Or is it referring to someone/something else?

It's mostly about a stolen painting from the National Gallery of the Duke of Wellington, painted by Goya. There's a lot going on in the story. It's much less a comedy and a bit more a mystery that gets solved at the very end. It's best to watch the film through to the credits, where they list some actual facts about some of the real players in the story. It's a fascinating tale.

Thanks for the recommendation.

My review…."meh".

I didn’t really enjoy the film. If it hadn’t been based on a true story, I don’t think I would’ve found it interesting at all. And even then, they took a lot of liberties with the facts. The painting was actually "borrowed" for about four years. That’s not clear in the film. And the details about his motivation for returning the painting as portrayed in the movie are not true.

To me, in real life and in film, the main protagonist was more "annoying twat" than "inspiring hero".

YMMV.

P.S. the Goya painting in question is really not that great.

I always think of myself as the toughest critic, since I dislike most everything out of Hollywood. If you think this was "meh," best not to try Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. LOL.
