After seeing the preview months ago, I so wanted to see this film. Finally did the other night. God bless 95-year-old June Squibb. She's so lucky to be able to memorize her lines. The movie has some charm, but it's a bit too lightweight and preposterous. It's not easy to come up with good stories, especially comedies, that center around older folk, but at least Hollywood keeps trying.

These days, it's a miracle that anyone in Hollywood is going to finance a film for a 95-year-old star. June seems to be a darling. Even the NY Times praised the movie. She has wonderful chemistry with the cast, especially Richard Roundtree. At 81, he was still doing great work, and then he died. I support actors who want to work to the end of life. If you love what you do, why not?

She still might have many years of work ahead.

A long way from her 1993 single line as Granny/Auntie Catherine Mingott’s upper middle age maid I barely caught yesterday rewatching The Age of Innocence, not peaking yet but got a cast credit.
