d.anders Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I watch a few YouTube well known movie critics, and several mentioned this film in their Top 10. I saw it yesterday. It's an interesting prison movie about incarcerated men using theater as a way of coping. Many of the actors in the film are actual members of the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program. Very talented. Colman Domingo is outstanding, and I think he is nominated for Best Actor. The movie is not quite as impactful as Oz or Shawshank Redemption. No nudity or gay themes, but hard core men expressing love for one another in a very touching way. Nice to a see a small movie like this can still get financed and sold. + Cash4Trash Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Years ago the Taviani Brothers made Caesar Must Die, a production of Julius Caesar performed by inmates of a Roman prison. Well worth watch. Spoiler - 2 prisoners were pardoned so that they could pursue professional acting careers. SirBillybob 1
SirBillybob Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Every Tuesday AppleTV offers a 99c rental special that usually reverts to regular low tier (now usually $6.99) the following Tuesday but sometimes extended through putting it in the 99c group batch. Today Sing Sing is 99c. + ApexNomad and d.anders 1 1
+ EVdude Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Sing Sing is now streaming on Max. I really enjoyed it. Not your typical prison film. Another great performance by Colman Domingo. And former inmates playing themselves was really something. thomas 1
