He's going down that Tina rabbithole.  The most tragic example of this I have ever witnessed was a buddy in the army.  He had been a combat medic in Viet Nam - a decorated war hero - combat medic's badge, silver star, bronze star... A sweet guy, everyone liked him, but he couldn't leave the Tina alone. He was given chance after chance to clean his act up - they didn't want to discipline him because of his war history; hospitalized time after time to treat the ill effects of the drug abuse.  Eventually, though, he ended up with an unfitness discharge, busted all the way down to the lowest possible enlisted rank.   I believe the unfitness discharge, at least, still qualified him for veterans' benefits.
